Session 6: The Fireball
General Summary
The adventurers eagerly await the opening of the Trollskull Tavern, the date is set for Trolltide. Detalosi one early morning arrives to the Halls of Justice and recives a letter from his friend Thoril. " He tells him of a elderly dwarven couple newly arrived to waterdeep in search of work. Detalosi sends word back to Thoril to send the couple to the Trollskull Tavern. When they arrive the Adventurers meet a gruff dwarven couple. Olina and Ole become the new barkeepers of the TrollSkull Tavern and begin to assist with the necessary arrangements to open the bar. With extra time on thier hands the adventuers head out to complete assisgnments given to them by the local guild leaders. Feng heads to meet with Mortin Till of the Dungsweepers guild. In what seems to be the longest tenday of his life, he watches over Mortin and three other human men, Errol Glauber, Eleric Pathan, and Renard "Stooge"Mannhien. Detalosi and Lily keep Feng company. Nine days pass with little issue with the only hazard being almost falling alseep with boredom. On the tenth day at dusk while the dungsweepers are wrapping up for the day Mortin lets out a yell as a giant wormlike creature with many tentacles begins to push its body through a broken section of sewer grate. The scent of putrid flesh and rot hangs over the air near the creature as its tentacles whipout to try to grab onto Mortin. Feng flys into action charging at the hideous creature with a heroic yell. With greatsword flying he battles back the monster with the assistance of Det and Lily. Unfortunatley a bits of the wormlike creature end up covering Feng in a viscous nauseating goo. Hes horrified This simply wont due for someone of his high status! Early the next morning the party awakes to the large "BOOM!" of a massive fireball erupting in the street not far from the Tavern! The party rushes out to see what caused the commotion. Everyone is confused and House of inspired hands looks like a workshop combined with a temple. A mechanical bird thing is released by a guy thirtyish feet up, and dives from the roof and dive-bombs us. It breaks and I take it for l=ater repair. The inside of the temple/workshop has two dozen pedestals with displays of great achievements. Valetta, a female bronze drahonborn, greets us. I get to keep the bird. Valetta tells us to look for Skala, who can tell us about the “spectacle-workers” and we ask about having performances. Jared is more blunt, and we arrange a meeting with Nimh, their house automaton, but the attic door to Nimh’s room is locked. I Knock the door open, and Nimh is our culprit. Nimh is sentient, and lonely. It has been tinkering to alleviate its boredom. I check out a Divination signal and find a tiny umbrella on a stick. I ask Nimh, and the device is used to check proximity for any other automaton besides Nimh; the detector has a range of 500ft. Nimh made another nimblewright a month previously, and it fled in terror. I promise to visit Nimh as often as I can. Valetta offers 500GP to catch the other automaton. This is a curious thing, as Nimh is restricted to the temple, but the other nimblewright can leave freely. Lauren checks out the displays: she sees a grandfather clock, a flying machine model, a miniature fire-breathing dragon turtle, a functional walking helmet, a miniature submarine, etc. We decide to have lunch at a tavern called the Fiery Flagon. An older dwarf is the barkeep. We proceed to eat and stuff. Lauren asks teh barkeep about city information. The barkeep talks about the upcoming holiday, Trolltide, occuring in ten days.
