Session 35: friends or enemies... Report

General Summary

Sitting in the bedroom with elven heraldry, one design signifying the elves of the Misty Forest, Midnight Snow casually examined the two earth temple and two water temple keys. She fused each elemental key together, then placed the two fused keys side by side and in a black glowing fog, they fused to form a single key with the symbol of Tharizdun at its base.   The adventures left the bedroom to continue their explorations and soon made their way to a series of ore carts and tracks (Indiana Jones and Temple of Doom style). Slowly riding the cart, the party made their way down tunnels and over bridges and soon encountered a troop of elves on a bridge above them. The elf leader, an albino with Water Temple symbols, challenged the party to declare their intentions. After a quick exchange, the albino cast hold person and Emmanuel Woodsmoke was motionless. Orlac's fireball and the blades of Tymaret and Barbados made quick work of the elves. One survivor bargained for his life and told the party of bugbears and a bridge complex further along the tracks, and of the cursed fire temple as well, enemies of those who worship the sea. As the party left the elf, Noodle fatally stabbed the captive leading to a heated exchange between Orlac and Emmanuel, the cleric insisting that the party must keep to its word, and Emmanuel shrugging.   Not long on the track, the elf's information proved correct, as a bugbear cave branched off the line. The party made their way in carefully, Noodle in the lead, but Orlac's keen ears picked up creatures in an ajdoining cave. Tymaret and Barbados rushed in and were met by Bugbears ready and positioned behind crates and barrels, save for female bugbear, bigger than all and pierced with rings across her ears and nose. She needed no cover. The beasts through javelins while the bugbear champion engaged a rushing Barbados. The swings of the creature's great sword were almost too much, and did indeed render the barbarian unconscious, but this was towards the battle's end and he was brought back by Tymaret's paladin touch.   A short rest in the bugbear cave was needed to heal the party's wounds. While rummaging in the filth, they found the black cloaks favoured by temple guards and a note addressed to Eeridik suggesting his help would be much appreciated. With the note was a sack of over 1000 sp.   Rested, the party moved on, spiralling down the tracks to the base of a large cavern and in a nearby cave they found the long-dead body of a dwarf. Midnight Snow took a gold ring from the dwarf that had gone unnoticed by the crater ridge mine dweller and a copper tube containing a map, seemingly of this area, with caves, dungeon halls, and a bridge...
