Session 34: more dwarven mines... Report

General Summary

After defeating the water-temple priestess, Kelashein, the heroes' rest was interrupted by inquisitive human guards, forcing them to move on. Making their way through a kitchen and a room with human sword-bearers and archers, the heroes emerged from a corridor into a chamber with a single door opposite, and recently crafted pool. Within the pool were five vaguely humanoid forms with sickening, almost melted heads, and four large tentacle like appendages in place of legs. On the chest of each was an oval symbol of a skull with writhing appendages, the symbol seemingly part of creatures.   Emerging from the pool, and slowed by movement on the ground, they attacked the party. Their tridents pierced flesh and with their arms they struck mighty blows of psychic damage. Tymaret was knocked unconscious, saved by a healing touch from Midnight Snow. The strange aberrations were finally killed by a great number of sword blows and missiles. What were they and why chairs were adjacent to their pool is unknown.   Down more corridors the party met with Steam Mephits, human and kua-toa guards and a well-appointed chamber with several beds, wardrobes, tables with dinner remains, books on science and history, a potion of Gaseous Form (labeled as such in Elvish), and an adjoining store room. This is not a room for bog-standard guards, or Kua-toa. So whose room is it?
