Session 14: Battle at Vyndorak Report
General Summary
Combat Against the Darkscale Syndicate
The battle began in the Excavation Deadlands deep within the Vyndorak Spikes. As we arrived at the site, we witnessed a disturbing sight—Bloodtusk, the Syndicate leader, was enveloped in a pulsating green energy radiating from the central pedestal. He seemed locked in his own battle, trying to harness the dark power before him.
But just as the fight was about to begin, disaster struck. Sunny, ever curious and usually full of luck, took a wrong step and fell from a nearby cliff before the combat even started. We couldn’t see where he landed, and in the heat of the moment, we were forced to fight on without him.
As we readied ourselves for the fight, a goblin, previously unseen, entered the fray on our side. Dulb was his name, and though we had no idea where he came from or what his intentions were, he seemed willing to help. We didn’t have time to question him as the rest of the Darkscale forces turned their attention toward us.
A Challenging Fight
Goq squared off with one of the enforcers while the rest of us took on Bloodtusk’s lieutenant, Sylor Darksteel, along with a Magus and Arcanist. Sylor was more than a simple warrior—his abilities were bolstered by construct-like resilience, and his magic was as lethal as it was cunning. His tactical precision kept us at bay for longer than I’d have liked.
Even as the Magus and Arcanist were felled through our combined efforts, Sylor held out with almost mechanical fortitude. But with Dulb’s help and Warby’s persistence, the lieutenant finally fell. However, it was clear our toughest foe was yet to be faced.
Bloodtusk’s Final Move
By this time, Bloodtusk had wrestled control over the green energy at the pedestal, clutching a gem in his hand. He immediately turned on us, and the battle that followed was nothing short of brutal. Both Goq and Frostbulb, Warby’s trusty T-Rex, fell to his relentless strikes.
Bloodtusk was a monster of a foe, seemingly fueled by the power of the artifact he had acquired. But we didn’t give in. Warby, Chungle, and Dulb fought back with everything they had, and slowly but surely, Bloodtusk began to falter. With a final, combined effort, we brought him down, and on his body, we found the Aeon Stone—a rare artifact capable of shielding the mind against external influence. A necessary weapon if we are to defeat Melkorion.
The Journey Continues
With Bloodtusk defeated and the Aeon Stone in our possession, we prepared to leave the Vyndorak Spikes. But the battle wasn’t over in my mind. Sunny was still missing, having fallen from the cliff at the start of the battle.
As we made our way toward the Blightpath, we couldn’t help but wonder where Sunny had gone. Was he hurt? Captured? Or simply lost? The only thing we knew for sure was that we needed to find him, and soon. Something told me his disappearance wasn’t just an accident—it had the feeling of a darker hand at play.
