Session 11: The Trials of Mordos Report
General Summary
The Darkness and the Betobeto-Sans
The Veil continues to test us in ways that defy reason and sanity. We found ourselves shrouded in an impenetrable magical darkness that even Sunny's enchanted torch could not pierce. It was unnerving, the darkness seemed alive, and footsteps echoed around us, closing in from every direction. We were soon ambushed by shadowy spirits—creatures that we would later learn are called Betobeto-Sans. These spirits fed on our fear, growing stronger the more we hesitated.
In our desperation, we sought a way to bring light to the chamber. We discovered four braziers, each reacting to different prayers and actions we performed. With each brazier ignited, the shadows began to recede, and the Betobeto-Sans were finally exposed to our attacks. Once defeated, the darkness lifted, revealing an etching on the floor—an inscription we couldn’t decipher, written in the ancient language of Empyrean.
The Wall of Fire and the Test of Courage
Pressing on, we entered the next trial chamber, only to be confronted by a massive wall of fire. As we steeled ourselves, a mysterious purple glow surged into our chests, gifting us the ability to twist fate at will—though at the cost of strange, random side effects. Sunny, ever the brave soul, walked through the flames without hesitation, inspiring Warby to do the same. Goq, however, hesitated. His moment of doubt nearly cost him dearly, but by some stroke of luck, he managed to pass through the wall unscathed. It was clear that this was a test of courage, one that we had only just passed.
The Ghost of Cracked Iron
As we rounded the corner, we were met with a haunting sight—Cracked Iron Cackling Fire, resurrected in a ghostly form. He appeared confused, as if unsure why he was fighting us once again. Despite his spectral state, we managed to put him down once more. On a nearby pedestal, we found inscriptions recounting the courageous acts of Sunny, written in a way that only Sunny could see. The next step of our journey lay hidden in the Empyrean text, but Sunny seemed to understand, guiding us onward.
The Maze of Mirrors and the Final Battle
The final trial chamber was a maze of mirrors, each reflecting not just our images but also a danger. Taking a wrong turn led to our own reflections attacking us, as if our very selves had turned against us. We managed to navigate the maze, only to face a final challenge—a Joseung Saja, a fierce psychopomp warrior who moved seamlessly through the broken glass and mirrors in the last room. The battle was intense, nearly costing Sunny his life, but we emerged victorious.
The Consequences of Twisting Fate
Throughout these trials, we found ourselves twisting fate repeatedly. However, with each twist came a bizarre change. Goq now glows with a bright pink hue, outlined in light, while Warby has inexplicably shrunk by six inches. Sunny, poor Sunny, can no longer feel warmth. These changes, while unsettling, are a reminder of the price we pay as we delve deeper into this Veil. What lies ahead remains uncertain, but we must press on—if only to understand the true nature of the trials before us.
