Recap

Amoris 29 to Vinum 9, 3033: Year of Liberation

Happy third birthday to the campaign! The session started in Leonidas' office (much as it did three real-life years ago) and while they left a year ago as social pariahs under some suspicion of conspiracy to assassinate the emperor, they returned as celebrated heroes and liberators.   As it was offered, Pharos claimed Dawnfire, the holy Raiment burning in his hands like living fire. Travelling from Helorix, the Flamebringers took ten days of downtime on the journey to the wall, transferring to and from the Sunstrider and the Bungalo.

Welcome Back Party

After Charles' return to the land of the living and humane, the Flamebringers had a small party to welcome him back. They caught him up on all he missed, including Callisto's background as a a vessel for the dark forces of the world. Charles gave him a hug, and he could tell Callisto needed it. Following the party, Tyra caught up to Charles and returned Stormdancer to him, reuniting the weapon with the Valoric bloodline.

Court of the Winter Witch

In the ten days before their arrival at the boarder of Astronomea, the Flamebringers reviewed their knowledge of Mab and the Winter Court so they are not flying in blind. Olette, using the Mercurial Mind, cast three legend lore spells to learn more about what they might encounter. From the Mercurial Mind, the answers came in the form of quintarchs, five lined poems thought to be favored by pre-Fracture society.   Filling Pharos in on what happened, Tyra took a moment to ruminate on how they got a wish from the Winter Queen; each member of the Flamebringers had told her a secret, but ultimately it was Callisto who secured the wish for the group with whatever secret he divulged to her. Foreshadowing.   Astronomea
Beyond lies the land of wind and winter
The court rules through law cruel and cold
Walls seperate the world from the fold
A crack is born from but a splinter
Held in place at the epicenter
Mab, Queen of Air and Darkness
The Winter Witch rules from throne of ice and bone
Of First Souls to drink form the Well
In Accord primordial, sworn afore the stars fell
In her schemes she stands alone
In a kingdom of Ice and Bone
  The Winter Court
The wind sings of a court lacking vice
Cruel of heart, cold logic rules the climb
To the peak of the mountainous rime
Sworn to the felicitous Queen of Ice
Who sees unworthy subjects as mice

Flying Blind

In the skies above Astronomea, the Sunstrider encountered a thick cloud of fog that enveloped their ship, spreading a rime of frost across the boards and making the elementals that power the ship skittish. Meeting in the navigation center, Vanderlith informed the party that they appeared to be in an endless expanse of fog, cut through only by a single ray of light. The altimeter spun without meaning, indicating a potential shift in planar alignment.   Following the light, they found their way to a port, grown from young green trees. The only other ship docked in this port was a familiar sight: though now emblazoned with "Depthdrinker" across the side, the old ship once owned by the party, then stolen by one Eamonn McGreggor.

Citadel of the Sun and Sky

Before they could investigate further, the gates to the Octagon boomed open and a familiar voice greeted the party. The Green Knight, known for such greatest hits as The Hawk and the Hare, invited them into his colosseum. He promised safe passage into Astronomea if they could defeat his champion, but first they must create their champion.   Guiding them to an observatory that stretched over the arena, the Flamebringers saw that it was filled with vibrant green grass in lieu of the common sand flooring and the stands were filled with cheering members of the spring and summer courts. As he disappeared from the oberservatory, a visage of the Green Knight appeared to the stands, riling up the fans and preparing them for the fight to come while the Flamebringers designed their champion.   And design one they did; a formidable opponent, lightheartedly named "Death" by Tyra. Unfortunately, as the Flamebringers soon found out, "their champion" meant a champion they would be fighting, as they plummetted from their spot in the observatory to face the Green Knight, coalesced into a single figure and made ready to run them down.
