Recap

Having defeated the villainous Archduke Hesse and liberated not only the Ironborn but the entire workforce of the Hollow Mountain, the Lords Flamebringer are lauded as heroes under the mountain and rewarded in kind. They also took this time to question their companion Callisto, who apparently has been holding out on them. Following the experience with Emrys that shunted them into the past to live out Vanderlith's final days as the Summer Knight, the Flamebringers found themselves no longer beholden to the Damnation Memori that hid away the knowledge of the Silent War.

The Bungalow

After sending Grand Forgemaster Doromir off to beging reforging Dawnfire and turning in King Lighthammer to Galahad, the party got clearance from the current authorities of the city to claim the Hesse Estate as their own. Exploring the house, they found some gold and seven jewlery pieces worth 50 gp each, and learned that they would significantly need to de-Hesse-ify it to bring it up to their standards. Galahad has teams ready and on it.

The Sunstrider

In the library, the party found a secret door behind a bookcase that led to the Cloudrunner, Hesse's luxury airship liner. While it had been tossed in the Liberation, the damage was mostly superficial, save the spellwrought gem in the helm, which had been shattered in the tumult. It had the following features pre-installed
  • Navigator's Bay
  • Clockwork Navigation
  • Elemental Propeller
  • Elemental Furnace
  • Two quom skiffs that are set into the navigator's quarters
  • Tether matrix
  • Luxury observation tower

Taking the ship to the Port Authority, Gregory Puck was able to offer the Flamebringers the following updates:
  • Official papers placing the Cloudrunner in the Lords Flamebringer's name
  • Liscenses for each Flamebringer to fly the ship
  • Renaming (Sunstrider)
  • Transfer of Vlask from the former ship to the Sunstrider
  • Reinforced Hull
  • Paint - primary black with red and orange accents, flame runes to add flair when at speed
  • Arcane Cartographer
  • Better Navigation Tools
  • Vigilant Watch
  • Flamethrower (from mouth of dragon figurehead)
  • Total Cost: 43,500 gp; Total Time: 5 workweeks

Questioning Callisto

Talking to your dear friend Callisto following the events on the wreckage of your airship, he had a lot of explaining to do. While you have gotten to know him as the loveable fool who bumbles around with a bow and arrow in a fight, you've learned that he's bumbling around with that bow and arrow because he's used to slinging spells as one of the most powerful mages to ever grace the lands of Andali. However, due to his function as a living prison for the Dark, he is unable to use those powers for fear of feeding the Dread Entity that dwells within him. Settling up to the bar in the Bungalow, the Flamebringers had a conversation with their friend.

  • He was made the High Nephilim at 17 (he is over 700 currently)
  • He was a puppet ruler for a significant portion of that time
  • Slowly, by direct or indirect means, killed those who had him as a puppet (we love a liberated king)
  • Lead the Omniscient Dawn for centuries against the Pathfinders, endeavoring to prevent them from killing a god
  • During this time, he did sanction orders to raise the Sentinel tower and raze any local village in the area. Sorry, Vanderlith
  • Though, he did not have anything to do with the Huntsman's arrival in the Golden Isles
  • The Highlight
  • Callisto, being the most powerful mage of his time at the height of the Golden War, was used to create the vessel for the Dark. The other seven Nephilim of the council, though they thought they could control the Dark, were consumed in the process
  • The Dark, from the council, was directed to destroy the Pathfinders, which It did. Then It got bored
  • Possessed by the Dark, Callisto was forced to tear the nation of Arborea up by its roots; sitting in the backseat, forced to watch as the Dark decimated his people
  • The Dark continued on like this until It was faced with the Wanderer, who met it on the banks of the Malphurion River. Infuriated with the desicration of Their beloved Arborea, They met It in horrific, destructive combat. The two powers tore at each other until the intervention of the Planeswalker, transporting the conflict to the Sentinel
  • There, the Wanderer gained the upper hand as Callisto began to fight back the Dark from the inside
  • Taking mercy on Callisto, the Wanderer spared him, locking the Dark within a prison of flesh. The Wanderer allowed Callisto to walk free, on the condition he not tempt what lurks beyond

Downtime

After waking up a little hungover and 300 pastries richer, the Flamebringers had their first week of downtime and drew from the Deck of Many More Things (which takes plasce at the end of all the collective downtime, we just wanted to get to it today).
