Session 25: Death in the Skies Report
General Summary
Recap:
- While resting after the night's ambush, Wren has a brief dream of her time with Rhea, recalling the instance where Rhea taught her about the 'good-luck facepaint,' and where it comes from.
- In the morning, the party wakes from the hectic night they've had previously, with the majority of them holding some form of resentment towards Celrin. A deliberation is made about what to do next, and ultimately it's decided that the captives they took from last night's affair were to be interrogated, then executed; an act Celrin promptly did.
- With the ordeal behind them, the party continued north to the Lessian city of Divasé. The city seemed mostly untouched, at least at first. While the southern border was fine, the northern quarter of the city was in complete shambles; many of the buildings that originally served as people's homes now completely unrecognizable black ash.
- The party split, looking to learn more about the Capris/Lessou frontline, and hopefully establish contact with whatever general was leading the efforts here. Eleonora and Wren found relatively quick success, managing to convince one of the guards to grant them a meeting with the Lessian official Commander Jean. Jean was an intense man, clearly afflicted and drained by the perpetual war zone he'd been enduring for the last year. Jean heard out the party, seeing that their offer to aid was legitimate, and explaining to them the current situation.
- Much of the city's northern quarter's destruction was due to the employment of smaller airships used by the Armada; with some of their applications being so bold as to crash ships directly into their targets, letting them explode violently in flame. Additionally, the assaults on Divasé have been temporarily halted due to a naval reinforcement offered by Trious, which made it's way to the Ertsland Talon Estuary two weeks ago. Commander Jean implored the party to assist that ship if possible, telling them that it was acting as the last line of defense before the city would be vulnerable again.
- Eleonora and Wren, satisfied with the contact they made and the information they'd received, directed the party further north, to investigate the naval reinforcement, and to potentially assist it. After a few days travel, the party arrived within viewing distance of the Lessian warship, but found it currently under attack by assaulting airships. The party offered what minor assistance they could from the shore, drawing attention to their presence. Their efforts appeared futile however, as the Caprans sent a large wave of reinforcements to decimate the Lessian warship, headed by an infamous Capran general previously mentioned by Commander Jean.
- Realizing their situation and fending off the small attention they'd garnered, the party ran into the woods, hoping to avoid further pursuit by the Caprans. It seemed as though the Caprans were still nearby, looking for them, but the party gained just enough leeway to start trying to return to Divasé. The party's trail was discovered though, as their travel was soon to conclude in the night, a Capran airship loomed nearby, soon to discover them.
- The party saw the lone ship as an opportunity to capture the unique technology that was at the enemy's disposal, and made an effort to capture the ship. Between the mass-comatosing delivered by Wren, and the acrobatic abilities of Melyre, the ship was successfully captured, though effectively unusable and of questionable status given the party's lack of experience with such vehicles. Without the threat of danger however, Wren was able to understand the fundamentals of the flying vehicle's movement; though the finer details, such as landing or gauging remaining fuel still eluded her.
- Regardless, the party had succeeding in capturing an airship, and decided to risk its collapse on trying to return it to Lessou; hopefully without being shot down.
