Session 31: Finding the Way In Report

General Summary

Recap:

  1. Now at the house, the party came to find that Xena had something mildly concerning to show them. At the southern shore of the house's island, a dragon turtle appeared, willing to offer its services in exchange for the treasure he believed was held in the Capris Armada's home ship.
  2. Kane negotiated with the dragon turtle, and bought his temporary services for nearly seven-thousand gold.
  3. Back inside, Lian was taken on a tour of the house by Wren, where he seemed simultaneously critical and impressed of Wren's efforts in hydroarcanic power.
  4. After the tour, Lian made station in the library of the house, where he began to peruse their books. Eleonora insisted that Wren make an effort to stand up to Lian, and get him to divulge more information of his goal to the party.
  5. Wren instead offered Lian her exquisite room, leaving Eleonora to ask more of his goal. Lian gave Eleonora his specialty, divulging is intentions in the most roundabout and uninformative way, leaving her with the information that this Nekros Lexicon was somehow being used as an attempt on leverage in an extra-planar war between demons and devils.
  6. Eleonora spoke privately with Wren afterwards, meanwhile Kane took the opportunity to ask Lian more about Jhin's immortality. Lian explained that Jhin's immortality was unique from other forms of immortality, in that he actually died, but just never stayed dead; as well as is able to use his signature 'shadow' while still dead, though it has to be summoned before death.
  7. The party settled down for the night, but in the following morning, Eleonora discovered Wren covered in her own blood, lying catatonic in her bed. While Eleonora rushed for a doctor, Melyre tried using some of her clerical power to resuscitate Wren, which allowed her to snap out of her daze.
  8. Eleonora returned, and after seeking Lian's judgement, Lian figured that Wren has likely contracted a terminal illness from the Nekros Lexicon itself. Lian further explained that the only way to save Wren would be to gain control of the Lexicon directly.
  9. Everyone began to hastily rush towards Riverville, and on the boat ride over, Melyre was able to effectively 'reset' Wren's illness by dispelling the necrotic magic infecting her, yet it wasn't a permanent solution.
  10. As the party arrived to Riverville, Lian told Wren that he'd be departing briefly, expecting the party to figure out some way past the necrotic defense of the town. When Wren asked him why, Lian told her that he needed to get something, something that'll save her life when she inevitably perishes from the disease of the Lexicon.
  11. After Lian's departure, the party sought the council of Justice, a woman, or perhaps creature, that was seeking to capture the demon manipulating the Nekros Lexicon.
  12. Justice explained that the demon within the town, whom she called Daenol, tethered itself to the Lexicon, and has been using that connection to instantly kill any unwanted outsiders who come too close to town. Justice continues to explain that if Daenol's connection to the Lexicon could be severed, the party would be able to take the town by force, and Justice would be able to take Daenol.
  13. The party came up with a plan to try to break Daenol's connection to the Lexicon, and are now moving to try to enact their plan.
