Session 8: Wretch of the Forest Report

General Summary

Recap:

1. The party awoke, all discussing dreams they had over the night previous. It seemed that everyone unanimously dreamed of an invitation "to be slaughtered" within a desolate forest several miles to the south of the city.
2. With the destination set, and the marks growing in pain, the party traveled from the Halcoast Manor to the exterior of the city walls, deciding to try to avoid the legal consequences of the night previous.
3. The party then traveled through the forests, happening upon a handful of skeletal remains scattered about the forest of what appeared to be older generations of Hal soldiers.
4. Eventually the forest grew dim and foggy, as the party reached an eerie grove full of statues and skeletons.
5. Within the grove, the party saw the location from their dreams last night, and were prompted by a deathly statue to recite the names of several figures known as "the Angel, the Mother, the Daughter, and the Wretch."
6. The party managed to discover these names by answering riddles from other statues within the grove, and as they did so, they were assaulted by a figure matching the description of Jan the Wretch, the leader of the Bloaters.
7. A battle ensued, where after a handful of very lucky situations, the party emerged victorious; Celrin almost perishing, and several others nearly dropping unconscious.
8. After the body of Jan the Wretch was recovered, Celrin wanted the party to explore the grove further, and they all came across a large ruined wooden door.
9. Wren knocked on the door, and who answered appeared to be a beautiful older woman, who desired to know what the party was doing there.
10. Celrin, very suspicious, started to ask the woman several questions, which slowly begun to reveal a sinister nature, as the woman professed to being called "the Mother," as well as describing that Jan the Wretch was one of her children, and that she had many others.
11. The rest of the party, very intimated by the woman's demeanor and cautious due to their bad injuries, convinced Celrin to leave the woman alone as they all returned to Northal Castle.

Notes
