Session 5 / Magehold Report

General Summary

Session started with Thupyaf, Diira, and Haatha traveling to Magehold, the holy city located in the Middle Marsh. Upon arriving, they found lodgings in a flophouse and decided to ask around to find out more about the cylindrical clay vessel they had found at the abandoned manor. Haatha found a potential buyer for the item, but he raised suspicions, so the party decided to research the item at the temple instead.

Inside the Temple

The party made their way to the temple and found it guarded by two temple workers. Thupyaf approached them and offered them Yaala Leaf. The guards smoked with Thupyaf while Diira and Haatha snuck into the temple.

Inside the temple, Diira and Haatha found a pool with a brass statue of a cat overlooking it. There was a key at the bottom of the pool. They fished out the key, which caused the statue to move. Diira and Haatha fled back to the other end of the temple, where they were able to open a door with the key. At this point, Thupyaf returned with the temple workers.

The Temple Library

The party managed to enter the locked room at the back of the temple. Inside, they found a number of books and papers. They also discovered a slot in the wall the exact size and shape of the clay cylinder. When they slotted the cylinder into the wall, the temple walls began to glow and buzz faintly.

Among the papers they found a letter from the King of Kinghold demanding information on "steam cores" from the temple priests. A letter from the temple priests responded to the king, saying that the steam cores should be used for healing and for their magical benefits, not to create weapons. The party also found a map claiming to lead to a cache of steam cores.

Party Cat

The party heard a commotion outside in the temple, and exited to find that the brass cat had left its spot and was glowing brightly. Thupyaf danced with the cat and the party was able to use the distraction to get away from the temple and out of town.
