Personal history
Born in Eryndoril to a human mother and high elf father, Curufin always loved magic, particularly illusion, and learned the basics from his father and school. Was always very gifted with magic and was at the top of his class, so applied for the role of apprentice at the Great Library of Eryndoril at age 38 but was denied as he wasn't seen as a great enough mage due to the discrimination of the Head Librarian. He spent several years trying to prove his skills as a mage to gain the position but to no avail, so instead took to using his proficiency in the school of illusion to steal books and resources from the library to further his research. This lead him to discovering ways to instil illusion magic into objects, allowing him to create clothing that would change its fashion with his will. He also transformed his wand, which was a gift from his mother when he was accepted into his school's advanced magic class (which was usually just for pure elves), so it was able to take on the form of other magical instruments and weapons. After several years of researching this branch of magic, he grew greedy with its potential, and started experimenting on himself. By a sheer fluke, he fell over during the casting of his ritual, knocked over his component shelf, and miraculously not only kept his life, but was able to change his form in to that of any other humanoid, just like the 'changelings' he'd read about in the far west. Being sure that this would be enough evidence of his power, he showed the Head Librarian, who reported it to the High Circle who ordered that he must leave the city if he was to continue to practice such uncontrolled and experimental magic.
