Backstory: Drake’s father, John K’al, was but a simple fisherman of saltmarsh. He was one of
the most skilled and well known of the town. This was something he would later pass onto his
son. He became known as the Hook of Spirits for his great fishing ability and how many drinks
he could put away. Drake’s mother, Rayla Voi, protected ships with shipment from pirates and
other foul creatures. Through these protective services she became to be known as the Trident
of the Sea. She slayed anything that got in her way… well almost anything. One fateful day
John was fishing at the pier when a ship came with Rayla aboard. For John it was love at first
sight. John ,although sheepish, made a move and swept her off her feet. After 2 wonderful
years they had Drake. Over the course of his first 13 years of life they would teach him how to
fish, fight, and everyone once a while a tiny drink when mom wasn’t looking. At their 15th
anniversary they decided to bring it back where it all started at the pier and the ocean. They
went alone to sea to enjoy their time together. Although they hadn’t set their sails they began to
move more towards the ocean. They thought nothing of it… little did they know this would be
their undoing. Without warning a kraken began to attack. Since Rayla was a skilled fighter she
was able to stab one of the kraken’s eyes out but to avail she was consumed by the beast. With
John’s last moments being seeing his true love eaten alive. He stood there while the beast
destroyed the ship along with him. Drake waited for them for days waiting for any kind of sign.
One day he found the wood sculpture of the bow of the family ship(The Elven Beauty). A week
has passed and there began many reports of kraken attacks. Drake knew in his heart and in his
combined blood that it was the kraken. The beast became well known in the area and was thus
called Hell’s Salt. Drake didn’t want to make the same mistake as his parents. He has been
biding his time, growing stronger and angerier. The kraken had eventually stopped attacking the
small town’s ships when Drake became 20. The only thought since then in Drake’s mind was
revenge.
