It's been a while since I've written in my diary, and a lot has happened. We smashed our first portal! But there were casualties, a poor old farmer was killed by the shockwave the shard produced after it's end. I've found the guys who own Ebon's old store, turns out they know my Dad! Used to do trade with him back in the day before he set off with the ICE Shards. We tried to get the sword off them, but things got heated. They say that Ebon used to be a corrupt individual and shouldn't be trusted, I never pay attention to a person's past but we left the sword there. They told me that if I can get my Dad to send trade their way, they might gift us the sword, as under Kragg's Law it now belongs to them. We head off to Clifbeach to find our next portal, along the way we assist in the Gnoll problem that is effecting the local farms. We built a fort of sorts and called them to us, very exciting. When at Pendle Orion tries looking for his stuff, it's in the big mansion that's in Pendle, according to Kragg's Law it's theirs now, but we think otherwise, personally haha!

I died lads... full on died. I am eternally grateful for the efforts of my fellow Emerald Straws, without them I'd still be cold and without a grave. It just goes to show the importance of friendship and kindness, it's these bonds that make us, defines us. What happens when you die I don't know, but when you come back it's back to it. That's the life of an adventurer, get up and go, keep ploughing on. Being Rank 2 in the Guardians of Greyachre means I can get into that library, knowledge is what I seek; Where's me Dad? What is beyond Spells an' Tha'. Turns out Father is up North with the Giants, went up with a team called the Ice Thorns, I need to see him, show him the man I've become! I've also found a name I need to follow in my study of the Arcane, Javen Battleberd. A Dwarven wizard who perfected Abjuration magic. Sounds like a legend, maybe I'll find more of his tomes! Dept we are racking it up! But we will clear out these portals, it's for the good of Greyacre. I might get to see my Dad as well.

It's been a while since my last diary entry and a lot has happened. We've been given our first official mission from the Guardians, we need to find an item that The Tainted have gathered information on. Not to bog you down in all the info, but we headed to a Tainted bar, got into a bit of a brawl, we headed to Farrel's house to question him, things got heated and people died. We captured Farrel and promised him witness protection, this lead to us discovering that the item is in a mine not far from here. We headed to the mine, things got heated and people died. We found the item, a lamp that can transport you to a dark dimension. Working our way through this dark reality we fought some Dark Dwarves, and that's when tragedy struck, Sweet Baby Maku got absorbed by an ooze of some sort... this is the last time this happens, I'm not letting anyone else from the Emerald Straws die on my watch! We have met with one of the benefactors that fund The Tainted, he lives in the Dark Dimension! He warns us of a war, a dark war, I don't like him but he seems to know more about what's going on we agree to help him and he lets us go back with the lantern. Adventuring is becoming more difficult and complex as the days go on, as long as I stand by my moral compass and my friends, I'm sure everything will turn out for the best.

Is there room in adventuring for morality? On taking Big Feddie's wife to the top of the hill to be laid to rest I was faced with something I never thought I'd had to question. When does the killing stop? I was fine slaying Goblins, knowing that I was being attacked by warriors/bandits/spellcasters etc. but when faced with their young and old, that question came to mind. A Goblin child hasn't done anything yet, it has the chance to make the decisions that my Orc family did. Choose to assimilate to modern civilisation become more than what we are... I will never deny someone that choice.

I never thought that one thing I would have to do as an adventurer was stop someone from pissing on a door. My feelings through that mission was that it was under my pay grade, but in hindsight I now understand why we heroes have to do jobs like that. Heroes sometimes have to be street level, keep the peace amongst the every day person, to the Goliath we helped his world was his house and someone was pissing on it. We came along and stopped it, thus saving the world... from his perspective. I need to remember that if someone is experiencing and injustice, no matter how small, it's still and injustice and that's not what we should build our world on. I really enjoyed meeting so many new people at the feast last night... but I can't remember much after sitting down with them... I hope I didn't get my dick out like I always do, bloody 'ell.

Session 6: What's occurring in this here Norcastle then?

We got to Norcastle! It's everything I thought and hoped it was, but also not what I expected at the same time. It's a city of splendour, magic is used here to make adventuring very easy, and well managed. However at the same time the city has a mask, a mask that hides a darkside. How can such a magnificent city have a snake women cursing small innocent children? No matter, The Emerald Straws took care of it and slayed the beast. I just hope our efforts have alleviated this darkness from the Bakers son.

"There's always a bigger fish." That's what I've learnt these past couple of days. You can reach the summit you set for yourself to then realise there's more mountain to climb. Violet "Angel Eyes", The Hag, this fucking river have all taught me this lesson. The only thing we can do now though is keep climbing, heroes don't give up, they grin and bear it, and that's what I must do.

Cleared My First Dungeon

Bloody hell, it took us two goes but we smashed it!

Well, well, well, the Emerald Straws and I have hit a huge milestone today. Not only did we clear out our first ever dungeon (a typical mission for heroes) but we investigated every room, every nook and cranny of that place. We slayed the evil within, we saved a Tiger and from the experience have grown stronger. Seeing death and destruction all around is harrowing, but with great effort from myself and my fellow Straws we have shone a light down and released an ancient Elven Temple from the clutches of some truly horrible creatures. I think being an adventurer/ hero is like riding a pendulum, in one moment it's in the shit and the dark times, but with momentum it will swing towards the good times once again... but we must prepare for the eventual swing back into the dark. I look forward to seeing what Norcastle will provide!

Well, these past couple of days have been wild. I have truly seen the wonders and horrors of this world; purple rain that doesn't hurt orcs but hurts everyone else, a haunted windmill, a magic voice stealing box... a voice box if you will haha, lots of bizarre beasts, and I may have made a pact with a Fish God. However, when I reflect on these experiences I can't help but see the sun behind the clouds. The time I'm spending with my new found companions is fun, the down time around the fire, the chats we have, they make me bloody laugh! I think my destiny is to be this light for others, the darkness over the forest at the moment is this four armed creature and I shall vanquish it so that people can have fireside chats with their mates in safety. I am concerned about my arm being slimy though, hopefully someone in Norcastle knows what's going on here.

Bloody hell lads, the path to being a hero is a complex one, but I feel like with every complexity I'm growing stronger and wiser. These past days I've learnt that not all battles can be won, you do your best to help and things can still go terribly wrong. My heart goes out to all the slayed Lizard Folk who lost their lives... all because we needed an amulet. Sometimes people help in different ways from you, and I've learnt to respect that. I know we are going to Norcastle, but who knows where that will takes us thereafter, this is what keeps me going. One day James Grom Jr. will be a name people sign and read about and my first step to that has begun!
