What is he, an Elf of the Relkathi Enclave and Zau'ber Empire, doing so far from home?
What is he searching for?
What does he hope to find?
Erdan hadn't known when he left the lands of his home. He hadn't when traveling with William and his band. He still doesn't. He doubts that he ever will. Yet, as he looks out across the rolling sea, as a small sprig of his potted lavender brushes his pant's leg, he finds that he still doesn't mind.
Appearance
Physical Description
Erdan is physically fit, and is capable of fighting with a blade when he does not want to call upon his divine magic. He wears no armor, preferring instead to cloak himself in defensive magics. Despite this, he does carry both a sword and large shield, and knows how to wield both. When he fights, he tends to augment the blows with thundering magics, reminders of the expensive and erudite tutelage at his mother's manor. His skin is tanned from travel and staying in the sun for long periods, and his brown hair is often worn in a long, low, ponytail. When relaxing, Erdan can occasionally be found with a pipe in his hand.
Body Features
While his hair is dark, characteristic of his wood elven blood, his skin is paler than is customary among his father's people. This could be due to his mother's heritage, though he tends to tan easily enough without burning. He has numerous freckles along the tops of his shoulders.
Erdan also has some light scars on his arms and hands from burns, weaponry, or farming accidents.
Facial Features
Erdan has angled and sharp features that bely his elven heritage. His eyes are vibrantly green, which used to be one of the main differences between his father and him. Presently, however, almost all people would instead comment on the scar that runs up the length of his face going from the corner of his cheek to close to the edge of his left eye. When using the Armor of the Earth spell, he will often draw a pattern of clay along the perimeter of the scar.
He also occasionally grows a beard, belying the slow transformation of his races becoming mortal.
Identifying Characteristics
If you cannot distinguish him from his scar or voice, then you can likely follow his scent. He tends to smoke when thinking, or settling down for the night. A few keen eyed individuals might also be able to recognize the crest of the ring that rests on his right hand's ring finger, as it is the symbol of his mother's merchant house. Very perceptive individuals might be able to catch the glimmer of gold from the scale cameo pendant that rests with Erdan's holy symbol against his chest.
Physical quirks
He is right hand dominant, and occasionally worries at the bottom edge of his scar when thinking deeply. He also unconsciously rubs his thumb against the pendant that acts as his holy symbol when worried. Recently, he has taken to doing the same with the golden dragon scale that he wears with his holy symbol.
Apparel & Accessories
Erdan wears simply spun but well-tended tunics and pants, with well-made leather boots. He has a dark brown, embroidered cloak that his mother sent him one winter close to a decade ago.
He carries a painted wooden shield, and hangs his holy symbol from his neck as a necklace. He also has a small pack of seeds, as well as an old long-stemmed pipe that has small etchings of wheat surrounding the bowl. Lastly, he carries around a golden dragon scale, with a green, stylized dragon etched upon it. This was a reluctant parting gift from William, and Erdan wears it with his holy symbol.
Special abilities
He is capable of casting divine magic. He also has some skill with the sword, and remembers a few of the blade cantrips and minor arcane spells that his sister's tutors taught them both during his childhood.

Personal history
The younger of Alariel of the Relkathi Enclave and Elizabeth Wagner’s two children, Erdan took after his far-traveling father in every way except eye color. By the time that he was able to walk, Erdan took more to the woods and lands of his mother’s estate than to his nursery or playrooms. Even as a child, he disliked the walls and fences of his mother’s home, despite her numerous, increasingly desperate, attempts to make the manor more bearable for both her son and his father, and tended to only stay inside when the winds of winter enforced it. He spent much of his childhood hiding away from tutors and servants in order to sneak out to the woods and peasants’ fields that resided just outside the boundaries of his mother’s olive and grape groves. While these excursions were met with furthered exasperation and disapproval from his mother’s side of the family (who were at their collective wits’ end with what to do regarding their stubbornly unmarried daughter, her vagabond of a lover, and their children), his father took an interest and occasionally joined him. He taught Erdan his way around weapons, the stories of his race, and how to survive off the land. They traveled together, with Alariel attempting to skirt his son around the worst of the Long War's impact and devastation. During these travels, Erdan found himself very fond of growing small crops and herbs that he would then use in poultices and tonics. Together, they travelled farther from the boundaries of the home Erdan had been born in, often leaving the estate for days, if not weeks at a time. As time progressed, the periods away only grew in length, and the periods at home only shortened. However, Alariel and his son would always return to the manor at the end of fall to rest out the winter.
It was on one such adventure, just past Erdan’s 125th birthday, that his father brought him to the ruins and caves that line the shores of the Zau’ber Empire. One night, when they were bedding down to rest in the shelter of an outcropping, Erdan awoke to the sounds of distress and conflict. Making his way through the sea-side cave without waking his father, Erdan soon found himself in the midst of a battle waged between 3 ruin-delvers and a tentacled, aberrant creature. Already, two of the adventurers had fallen and the other was barely standing. Erdan caught the eye of the remaining adventurer, a young human man with gold scales dotting his skin, who already been injured. However, the noise of Erdan's approach caused the injured aberration turned their attention on him. They attacked him, slashing at his face and causing him to stagger. It was then that the boy felt an anger that was almost alien overtake him. It was then that he felt as though the very earth itself came to life around him.
It was then that Rontra first reached out to him, lending him a fraction of her strength. Reassuring him of her presence. Bright divine magic came to his call.
His words and touch healed the wounded adventurer. He buffered him against the physical attacks of the being. With their combined might the band managed to bring down the creature, especially when Alariel joined the fray, awoken by his son’s pained and frightened cries.
As the battle ended, the adventurer's confusion was only matched by Erdan’s own. His questions, however, remained unanswered for a time. The moment that Erdan caught his breath, Rontra seemed to go quiet, even with her presence still being a near tangible force in Erdan's mind.
Since that adventure, Alariel approached the Relkathi for answers while Erdan traveled back home with the surviving adventurer, whose name was William. Erdan, who had grown accustomed to the wandering life of a traveler, wished to visit the distant lands of Florin and the Isles of Cador. Thus, the new duo left the manor, after healing and learning more of Erdan's abilities. Erdan has yet to return back to the manor.
The first ship that the duo took to Keefan sank, and Erdan was only saved from drowning by William. Over the course of their travels, the two quickly sparked up a close companionship and respect for the other's abilities and personalities. For the next three years, they traveled together as members of an mercenary band. During this time, Erdan learned the cruelties that were caused by the Long War. He grew closer to his companion, and learned that William cloaked his scales in illusion magic, that there was a carefully unspoken reason for the group to shy away from major cities, and that there were certain topics that were best to avoid discussing. Even so, William was kind when not sullen, gentle when not angered, and thankful for the magic, calmness, and support that Erdan tended to provide. The two's partnership was often commented upon, with Erdan often being called to act as an adviser, peace-maker, and more temperate buffer to William's more impulsive or emotionally-driven actions.
The party only separated when Erdan learned that his sister had taken up the position of a diplomat in Gravenwall, and wished to visit her. William refused to go to the city, and Erdan refused to ask it of him. Before parting, however, after exchanging promises to reunite after Erdan’s trip, William presented Erdan with a pendant made of dragon scale, etched in green. Erdan has not parted with it since his departure.
Erdan took to Cador, only to have his ship nearly sink again, this time due to a storm. However, he was saved from certain drowning by the crew of the ship, Barik-tharn. Shaken, but thankful to the men and women that saved his life, Erdan asked to be allowed to stay on the vessel as the ship's medic, at least temporarily. While he is still slightly wobbly on the vessel, he has taken to his position with certainty and relative ease. Since then, Dawn has also taken a position on the ship, and the sight of a familiar face is a source of comfort to Erdan. The Captain's devotion to Rontra and Korak has also decidedly helped in comforting him, and allowing him to settle as he continues to periodically search for a way to return to William.
Education
He obtained a very good education from the tutors that his mother brought to her estate. His father also took the time to teach him the basics of how to survive when traveling through the natural world, as well as how to defend himself with a sword. He has a relative knowledge regarding Rontra's doctrines, though knows little of the other gods, preferring instead to devout his little study time to agricultural knowledge, and medical treatments. He takes a great interest in herbal remedies that might be able to augment, or aid his more divine methods to healing.
Employment
He tends to act as a traveling medic when he has the supplies and means to do so. He asks for payment only when it seems as though those who've requested his assistance can afford to do so. During his time with William's party, he acted as a mercenary, though only with extreme reservations that William typically respected.
Accomplishments & Achievements
He is one of the God-Chosen of Rontra.
Mental Trauma
He has a fear of drowning, after the two previous shipping accidents. He is also terrified of the aberrations created by the Chaos Phage, and hates them. He refuses to not at least attempt to save or fight those that he comes across. Erdan also hates goblins after seeing the destruction that they caused in the Long War, especially after the attack on Edelstein.
Intellectual Characteristics
Erdan is not necessarily book learned, though he does have a good grasp on the natural and medical sciences. He knows how to pair natural treatments with more divine healing, and knows a great deal about agriculture. His love of farming has even led to him creating multiple small potted gardens on the ship that he has sailed on.
Morality & Philosophy
He, like most Rontrans, believes that everyone has a place in the world, and that those with more should share what they have with those who have nothing. Unlike most Rontrans, he does not care much for the established social order, believes everyone to be equal to each other, and grows impassioned when he sees instances where change can improve lives. He does try to take care not to take command, instead acting more as an adviser, however there are instances where his temper will overcome his temperance.
If he sees a despot that refuses to aid the less fortunate, he will likely try to put a stop to the injustice that he sees. Instances of cruelty and slavery will also quickly spur him to action.
Despite these divergences from Rontran faithfuls' common beliefs, Erdan does tend to adhere to her tenants where he is able. He despises malicious uses of necromancy, and disdains most instances of destruction or chaos.
