Identifying Characteristics

Physical quirks
His long, white hair waves freely as if gravity takes no effect on it. He is also missing part of his left ear due to an attempted ritual gone awry.

He is cloaked in gilded white and golden robes. His robe parts around his waist into a tabard-style look that falls down to above his ankles. He has many golden belts and bracelets and a single golden necklace with a silver gem inlaid in the center. He also wears a cape that drapes down from gilded pauldrons atop his broad shoulders.

Personal history
Born under the gilded moon on the isle of Vestilmere, Salathiel was born into a High-Elven lineage. But the powers of the gilded moon transformed him into something far greater than any mere elf. His skin grew pale and his once ocean-blue eyes glazed over into a dull, solid, glowing gold. His beautiful ebony hair, blessed by the moon goddess, had turned a glowing white. Magical powers swelled through the young child and often times he would accidentally set things ablaze. Through much of his life, Salathiel had to keep his "strengths" a secret. Growing up, Salathiel was shunned by his fellow elves because of his transformation. The High Elves of Vestilmere looked down upon Salathiel and often he would find himself with the brunt of the chores forced upon him. Growing up without any friends, many times Salathiel would find solace in the old books and scrolls at his local library. The stories intrigued him. And he wanted to know more. Growing up as a loner, besides his mother and father, Salathiel was told stories by his parents about the gods that had blessed him with his transcendance. As a young child, Salathiel was told that the Gods were magical entities far beyond the cosmos that graced the world with their bounty. Growing up ever-astounded with the stories that the Gods could grant their champions supernatural abilities, Salathiel chased the fact that he could become the champion of a god and obtain an immortality. An ever-living life meant that Salathiel could hunt down all the knowledge that graced the world. Devoting his life to unlocking the secrets of the cosmos, Salathiel began in his middle years to crack the ciphers that laid the foundation of the cosmos and the gods beyond the great, dark door. Often putting aside his magical abilities in favor of knowledge, Salathiel knows he needs to learn to harness his powers to prove that he is a worthy champion of the gods. Seeking an adventuring party, Salathiel looks to enhance his powers and discover more valuable information along the way. Plus, making a couple friends along the way could never hurt. Or can it?
Education
Hearing of the grand library at Dayun Castle in Dos Ciyol, Salathiel ventured outwards from Essil across the Vestil Split and landing in Dos Dale. Granted entry into the castle by the Lord to study at the library, Salathiel would spend nearly 30 years atop the grand tower studying and reading through the ancient texts.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Following long years atop Dayun Castle within the grand library, Salathiel managed to conduct and perform rituals attempting to contact the Celestial Beings. Many times he failed but a handful of times he succeeded. Learning just enough through communications with the Celestials to further his knowledge, Salathiel would keep this knowledge in a leather-bound notebook in his chest pocket.
Failures & Embarrassments
In an attempted ritual gone awry due to misinformation in an ancient text, Salathiel's expectations literally blew up in his face. The condensed explosion was heard from the towers below. When help arrived, Salathiel was taken to the infirmary. Battered, bruised and embarrassed, the explosion tore a chunk off of his left ear.
Mental Trauma
Growing up alone, Salathiel's trauma stemmed from his lonely youth. He would often try to make friends but the High-Elven kids would taunt, berate and shun the young Salathiel. Eventually he would stop trying to win the kids favor and accepted the fact that he would probably live the rest of his life alone.
Intellectual Characteristics
An intense need of intellectual stimulation has Salathiel pondering any aspect of life at any given moment. The journey to find immortality is a constant in his every day. Constantly questioning every aspect of mortality has given Salathiel an intellectual persistence.
Morality & Philosophy
Salathiel's morals are just and fair. Equity is an aspect that Salathiel considers cardinal; an even dispersion of knowledge throughout the mortal realm. Justice is another. Salathiel will never fail to do what he believes is the right thing.
person.sexuality
Growing up mostly ignored by his kind, Salathiel never really had a chance to explore his "otherworldly" desires. He doesn't really think about it that often nor does he really care.
person.gender_identity
Shunned by his kind, Salathiel doesn't really recognize the difference between different peoples. He is simply himself.
Taboos
Salathiel's sorcerous abilities were suppressed from the moment his parents realized his gift. Taught that magic was wrong, Salathiel went his whole life hiding the amazing boon granted to him by the gods.
Personality
Motivation
Salathiel has spent the majority of his life chasing after the dream that he, himself, could become a demi-god. Many years of his life have been dedicated to this task. Salathiel will stop at nothing to achieve this goal. He will take the well-being of others into consideration, but he will always put himself first if his eyes are on his prize.

Salathiel was never trained with weapons growing up and has only ever swung a stick in self-defense when he was younger. His magical talents are mediocre at best, even for a thoroughbred sorcerer. He prides himself more on his knowledge and wisdom than his skill with a sword.
Likes & Dislikes
Salathiel cared deeply for his parents before he lost his father. His strong bond with his mother keeps his head high and he tries to write to her at least once a week.
Salathiel strongly dislikes people who bully others. The mental scars from his childhood made him an adamant protector for those who cannot defend themselves.
Virtues & Personality perks
Salathiel considers wisdom to be one of his cardinal virtues. To be able to understand and perceive the elements of the world around oneself is truly a remarkable thing to attain.

Despite having a deep desire to transcend the mortal plane, Salathiel does not believe in religion. He respects the Gods but doesn't want to play any part in having to worship them.
Personality Quirks
Salathiel has a few quirks: The slight tapping of his foot when he grows impatient. His left leg bounces erratically when he is uncomfortable or anxious. He tends to chew on his cheek when he is deep in thought. Sometimes even he stares into the heavens when bored, his eyes gleaming ever brightened.
Hygiene
Salathiel holds himself in high regards when it comes to his hygiene. Born into a High-Elven family, cleanliness was key, despite living in borderline poverty. He doesn't like dirt but will get his hands dirty if he has to. But mud is his all-time most despised form of mess.

Contacts & Relations
His mother and father both live back in Essil. He would write to them frequently following his departure for Dayun Castle. Though, years past and so did his messenger raven. Salathiel was distraught. He loved that bird. Soon following, the letters came from only one way. Salathiel's relationship with his parents grew a little distant. Though occasionally, the Lord of Dayun would let him send a raven back to Essil. The weekly letters turned to monthly and the communication was once again established. Salathiel would also consider Lord Willem of Dayun a close personal friend.
Honorary & Occupational Titles
Back in Essil, Salathiel was "the freak", but when he left for Dos Ciyol, people gawked in amazement. Called the "Arch-Seraph" by those who knew him, Salathiel would carry that name with pride. For he knew that soon, people would call him a god.
Wealth & Financial state
Growing up in the Lower District of Essil was tough on Salathiel. Never having accrued more than enough to get by was a hard thing to overcome for Salathiel and his parents. His father would only get paid once a month, and what he was paid would only ever last a week. Forced to go more than half a month at a time without proper nourishment severely weakened him at times. Plenty of times he should have died, but something was watching over him from the other side.
Family Ties
Salathiel and his parents had no ties to anyone in the land. Occasionally, Salathiel's father would work for the royals as a cobbler but it was never enough to make friends with them.
Religious Views
Salathiel believes with every fiber of his being that a God or many Gods exist. After all, he plans to become one some day. But having to worship, beg and plead for answer from the Gods was not his way of doing things. He believes very much that the Gods hold great power and wisdom; but he doesn't believe that they deserve to be worshipped. If they truly have the power to make everything great, then why haven't they? Do they want prayers? People are on their knees begging for their child to survive the cold night and the Gods get to decide the child's fate? That is not something that Salathiel wants to "worship".
Social Aptitude
Salathiel can be very socially awkward. He never intends to, but he never really had to talk to anybody while growing up. His social skills leave much to be desired but he can still talk his way around a conversation if a deal must be made.
Mannerisms
Salathiel may seem snobbish at times. He never intentionally does it. It's just the people who he was around growing up indirectly influencing his behaviours. Although he is quick to apologize if he has realized the mistake he has made.
Hobbies & Pets
Growing up, his parents had an albino crow named Chrysus. Chrysus followed Salathiel everywhere and was always there when Salathiel was feeling down. He was an oddly compassionate bird and Salathiel cherished every moment of his life up until his untimely passing. Chrysus passed away only a year after he had traveled to Dos Ciyol. Salathiel mourned for weeks after Chrysus had passed.
Speech
Salathiel knows many words but chooses to keep a limited vocabulary. He already has trouble meeting friends and doesn't want to scare them off with big, fancy words. His mind moves a million times faster than his mouth and sometimes struggles with the fluency of his words.
