Personal history
Crann's parents were very secretive and rejecting of tiefling culture, despite being tieflings themselves. They spent all their energy on blending in with the locals, and trying to be accepted. They ran a stall in the nearby farmer's market selling apples, and pears from their orchards. His parents kept up their kind facades despite the stealing, discrimination and inhumanness they faced, but when they'd get home, the house would erupt with anger. Crann watched this all growing up, hating that his parents sucked up to the townsfolk who manipulated and belittled them, and being told to 'smile off anything the other kids say.' However, Crann was also terrified. He'd noticed small changes in himself that he'd not seen in his parents, brother or anyone for that matter - Fires roaring when he entered the room, or windows flying open, especially when he was confident. After a rather startling incident at home, involving a close encounter with his brother and a sudden flying plate, Crann left his house to explore and he came across a group of Tieflings and he felt drawn to them. In a surge of confidence, he introduced himself and the connection was instant. They'd meet up everyday, usually just talking, playing card games or getting to know each other but one day, they invited him to a Tiefling festival. In his curiosity, Crann accepted. That festival was the day he felt truly accepted, he saw the beauty of his own culture and the happiness and peace of his own people. He began sharing his 'talents' with his new group, and they informed him about The Manaweaver Academy. With some research, and help from his friends, he applied to the Academy, and began honing his magic, and within a year, Crann was offered a conditional scholarship.
