Personal history
Born Annabelle Stormkeep, she comes from the Stormkeep province where her family is from. Her aunt and uncle are king and queen of the land with her dad being the brother of the king. While her 3 cousins were close with her, they spent a lot of time on their own. Anne spent her days studying everything she could, and when she wasn’t doing that she would go on hunting trips with her father and uncle. On one trip she even managed to tame a falcon, which she kept as a companion to keep her company and to hunt with. After a while her studies eventually led to an interest in magic, specifically the school of transmutation and alchemy. So she studied to learn what she could and even implemented magic to help her hunt. After a time she had sharpened her skills mentally and learned to use magic and her falcon to become the best hunter in her family and possibly in the whole countryside. But not long after Anne began to change physically. It started with small things like having all of the freckles on her face disappear than reappear, or her eye color changing overnight. Eventually it grew to a point where she would be reading a book with a picture in it or looking at a painting for someone to realize she looked exactly like what she was looking at. The pinnacle of these changes was when she was deep into a book and her father walked into her room and startled her when he said hello. She looked back and her whole body rapidly changed forms as a reaction. Scaring the both of them. After that her mother and father spent day after day looking for an answer, thinking maybe someone had cursed her or placed some sort of magic on her. While reaching out to their contacts for help they were pointed to an old man who had recently moved into the nearby town. He was known for a great knowledge of magic and the ability to help people with magic related issues. They went to him for help, and after a quick examination he said that a curse had been placed upon Annabelle. The only cure he could offer was to go to a holy ground on another continent where it is said that any curse could be removed. While skeptical Anne’s condition was getting worse, with her appearance changing almost everyday and with strong emotions affecting her body in unnatural ways. They agreed to send her to this place that the old Sage had offered, and he agreed to guide her there. They wanted to come with, but the sage said it was a trip that had to be taken alone. She said goodbye to her family and packed gear to leave. So he guided her across the water in a boat that her uncle was happy to lend. After days on the sea they finally made it to land where they saw no sign of civilization, but the sage promised that where they were headed was only a few days from the beach. So they traveled together for 4 days, stopping to camp every night. When the finally made it to the holy ground all that was there was a set of stones shaped in a specific pattern and a glowing portal in the middle. The sage said that she must now step thought the portal alone to clear herself, and that it would only take a few minutes. Hesitant, Anne stepped through the portal. She felt a sudden rush as she was transported somewhere new in almost an instant. She collapsed to the ground and tried to gain a sense of her surroundings. She slowly began to realize that the portal wasn’t going to cleanse her, but instead sent her to somewhere she had never been but had read about. It became apparent as she started to look around that this was the Feweild, a place she had heard about many times in books and stories. A sense of wonder filled her thoughts as she began to think about all the new things she could experience here. This was cut short when a vibrantly dressed man with elven features appeared out of thin air and approached her. He welcomed Annabelle to the Feywild with a big smile. He seemed to already know who she was and maybe even was expecting her. He talked about how he had been watching over her since the first signs of her condition arose. He thought that the situation she was in was quite peculiar, and that she was quite the interesting person. It had been a while since he had someone to entertain him here in the Feywild, and that he needed someone new to fill that role; so he sent an associate in the material plane to lead her into the portal. She was confused and afraid at this point insisting that she wanted nothing to do with this and only to be cured of her condition. He explained that she did not have any condition or curse, but it was something natural. The man explains that she was not human, but a changeling. A creature capable of changing their appearance to limitless possibilities, and that even though her parents were both human no one knew how changelings were born. He also explained that if she were to calm down and concentrate on her appearance that she could be whatever she wanted. Anne attempted this and for the first time in months was able to look like herself. She had a moment a relief, but was still cautious of the elven man. He began to talk again, about how much fun they would have and than disappeared. With a new sense of purpose Annabelle began to look for anyway to get out of this plane and get back home to her family. She would proceed to spend months at a time traveling, trying to find civilization or anyone that could help her. She found few people during this time, but there was no shortage of challenges. She would constantly encounter strange beasts and creatures if which she would have to deal with. And everyday from what she could assume was the man from before, she began to hallucinate and be toyed with mentally. She would see exits or way outs just for them to be nothing but trees and rocks. She was still trying to figure the shapeshifting thing out, but every time she was starting to get the hang of things or that she just tried to be herself for too long a beam made of moonlight would strike her with a searing pain; reverting her back to a grey skinned person with no pupils and long ears. In time she would come to understand that this is what she truly looked like. She continued to work on her newfound abilities, while honing her hunting skills to better survive. A saving grace in the form of a group of druids came to her aid one day after what would have been lethal battle with a werebear. They helped her recover and get back on her feet, and asked how she had gotten in such a situation. She explained her story to them while her wounds healed. About how she had been lured and trapped here by the man who the druids explained to her was an archfey. She also explained how she had been physically and mentally tortured everyday to the point where she just felt like giving up. The druids after hearing Anne’s story and seeing that going any further would kill her told her to stay with them for a while. At first she refused saying she had to keep looking for a way out, but after some of her injuries got worse and she was once again close to dying she agreed to stay for a while. They continued to treat her wounds and help her to find a way out. Since there was no sense of time or day in the Feywild, Anne didn’t really know how much time had passed; but about a year later after meeting the druids and studying from them she was able to find a portal to which she could go back to the material plane. She made a plan to reach the portal using magic to disguise her location, and then to go through the portal before the archfey new what had happened. After a week of preparation she said her final goodbyes to the people that had helped her and put her plan in action. All seemed to be going well, a little too well. She was finally able to locate the portal using an item made by the druids. She checked the area for any last minute traps and when she was clear ran straight for the portal. She was almost to the portal when she ran headfirst into the archfey standing in front of the portal. He grabbed her by the collar and asked her where she thought she was going. She tried to get away to the portal right behind him but couldn’t budge free. He continued to talk as Anne said nothing. He said that it had been a good run for her as he grabbed the trinket she used to find the portal and smashed it. Annabelle was in tears at this point still trying her hardest to get away, but the archery didn’t budge a muscle. He said that he had no intention of keeping her here for now as he turned towards the portal still holding her. He said that she was free to go, but that she would come back to him in time longing for something. He pulled her in close and put his hand on her chest, saying that even though she is leaving a part of this place will stay with her; while he said this, a transfer of energy went through his hand into her. She felt like some of the magic witching this plane was now embedded in her. He bid her adu and pushed her through the portal. When she went through the portal she felt a rush like before when she entered so long ago and fell to the ground in a forest and collapsed. The portal crackled with colorful lightning then vanished closing behind her. She was unconscious on the ground in the material plane. She awoke a day later and tried to figure out what the archfey had done to her. She quickly realized that she had a new set of abilities that seem to originate from the Feywild. She proceeded to go and find civilization in a nearby town that she camped outside of. After going into the town a couple of times and gathering some information she figured that it had been about 10 years since she entered the original portal, but in reality it had been 110 years backwards. She continued to live outside the town for a couple of months going in under the guise of a bard to occasionally make some money and buy supplies. Until one day she came across a bard from out of town playing in the local tavern, she challenged him to a bard battle in hopes of making some extra coin. After losing the hard fought battle the adventuring party the bard had come with offered for her to come with. She wanted to start making her way back home and to get in her way again, and that group is who she travels with to this day.
