Personal history
Alethia's past is sad, like many stories of her time. Her father was a land-owning Briton, a rarity in the Western Roman Empire in the 440's. As legions left Brittannia, violence became the order of the day. With a wealth built on the dual industries of farming and fishing, Alethia's father had done well for himself. Her father began as a commoner before joining the Legion, serving the Empire then retiring to the land of his birth with wealth and many tales. He allied himself to a local leader of men from across the channel, called Riatam. Riatam was to marry Alethia, and Alethia loved the man deeply with something of a hero-worship complex. Riatam died in battle and Alethia fled her father's land in grief. She ran into the woods and wild spaces and was killed by a Vampire's blood-hungry feeding.
Alethia rose as a Revenant and was eventually uplifted, and brought into a Circle of Mor. Alethia rose through the ranks as the centuries crept past, telling any passing mortal of Riatam, who would have saved all of Brittannia, had he not been cut down by the evil Euric. She trained Emma in January 1552 through to November 1552, and taught the bow-hunting sailor how to properly fight with a sword.
Tales change in the telling and retelling, as all know, and we now remember poor Riatam as Arthur, Euric as Mordred, and mistake Brittany for Britannia. But hey, Alethia doesn't care. She hasn't cared or voiced a peep that those names changed, or that the basic facts of the story are widely misremembered. Of course, though, that's because she's been in Torpor for a few centuries...but hey, Vampires are known to be understanding when you rewrite their history, right?
