An ancient green dragon with great ambitions that was believed to have fallen long ago.
Long ago when Tiamat returned to the material plane, Niarvenax, an adult green dragon, saw her chance for power and fortune. She enslaved a clan of dwarves and forced them to construct a city for her to rule. This city would become Grimhammer. The walls, roofs, and columns were all covered in art and accolades to Niarvenax's power. When it was finally completed, Niarvenax ruled it with an iron fist. Underneath the settlement, she created a lair of her own, where she kept her hoard.
When the war known as the Ballet of Scales broke out and rebellions broke out all across the draconic kingdoms. Grimhammer, Niarvenax's small city-state, was no exception. With the help of the bronze dragon Beonnass, the dwarves managed to defeat their tyrant. They then chained her down in the inner sanctum of the city on top of her hoard. The chains were then filled magical runes that would keep Niarvenax alive so that she would suffer for as soon as the dwarves themselves had suffered her tyranny. They left one rune out which would be added when she had been chained for 6000 years. This final rune would end her suffering and her life. After freeing themselves from their oppressor the dwarves turned on their own settlement. They then destroyed all celebrations and tributes to Niarvenax. When they had decimated the place they had called home for several generations, they all left the city behind. Many believed that Niarvenax had perished in the battle and eventually she was forgotten.
Several years later the ruins of Grimhammer were discovered by the Blessed Root clan of Stone Giants. The clan made the ruins their home and among the ruins, they carved a new place for their people. Where the dwarves had destroyed they rebuilt in their own way. They created ornate and beautiful creations from the rubbles of the dragon's lair. In the most inner sanctum of the ruins the Stone Giants protect a great treasure, the Body of Niarvenax. Where she has been for almost 4000 years. The drained and atrophied dragon longing for freedom has tried to gain the help of several adventurers.
