Lyra Rein is a petite half-elf whose face is nearly engulfed by a vibrant tango of brown curls. If you manage to keep prolonged eye contact, you'll see that her eyes are a faded green. Lyra carries a green staff of healing and wears a bone flute around her neck; she also wears a dark green hooded cloak over plain garb, and her leather boots are covered in dirt, but well-oiled.

Personal history
Lyra was born and raised in Fhaor Village with her twin brothers, Galen and Elduin. She didn't have many neighbors her own age, and she spent most of her time learning druidic arts from her mother and helping Akabi with household tasks (as well as foiling her brothers' pranks- when she wasn't their target).
Her world broke apart when she found her mother dead in her nightclothes, and everyone else seemed to just accept her death and move on. Lyra's only lead was that her uncle Dajad stole from her father's coinpurse and fled the village around the time of Sumia's death, so she traveled to Waterdeep in pursuit.

After receiving a letter from the mercenary dwarf, Glenin, Lyra became acquainted with the half-Orc prince Skorg, the half-elf bard Fiego, the tiefling Byrseis, and the human rogue Sly Boots. After struggling through unknown terrains (her first cave!) and fighting many battles at Glenin's (professional) behest, Lyra found not only allies in these four, but the potential for substantial, long-lasting friendship she had only read about. Not all of their memories were sanguine, as closure with Lyra's uncle slipped just beneath her grasp as she pursued a group of dragon cultists. Dajad himself was in cultist's garb, and after both parties overcame their initial moment of shock, Uncle Dajad insisted he was protecting their home (from a surge of water that would have devastated the village). Lyra did not have a chance to find out his true motives; she could not react in time to save her uncle from a lizard man, who swallowed him whole. With a heavy heart, Lyra returned to Fhaor Village no closer to answers than she had been before. Her gran welcomed her back with open arms and a hot meal for her comrades, and suggested that Lyra would be able to do do more for her community by staying in Waterdeep and keeping tabs on the forces that would bring harm to Fhaor Village. The night before she left home a second time, she had a strange dream about her mother, and was lured outside where she awoke to find a jade Staff of Healing. She keeps it on her person at all times, convinced that it was a sign from Sumia.
Lyra now lives in the Merchant District above Orsaba's Fine Imports with her now roommate, Sly.

Her Gran has a connection to Blanche Grassorb, one of Lyra's upstairs neighbors, and Akabi graciously pays each month's rent to ensure that Lyra is kept safe under "Auntie Grassorb's" watchful eye.

Lyra recently obtained the attention of the Emerald Enclave- and came to learn that her Gran was involved with the guild- when Akabi came to her in secret, desperate for Lyra to help protect a Minotaur from falling into the wrong hands. She gave Lyra a brooch with antlers to signify allyship with the Enclave, though Lyra has yet to be formally invited to join. The Minotaur was saved from possession, though Lyra was devastated to see that the young tiefling Rieta appeared to be caught up in some dark god's ploy to create a Minotaur uprising. She was proud of Rieta for sticking to her morals, and wrote her a letter inviting her to dinner, which she gave to Bryseis, Rieta's older sister.
Rose Morningbend, Blanche Grassorb, Dorothy Nasha and Sophia Skyspear have been warm and welcoming to Lyra and Sly. Between the four of them, their door is always open for company and there is always a kettle on. Lyra has relied heavily on their home cooking and generous insight during the short time she's lived on her own.

It was revealed via an intense chase through Orsaba's building that the sweet, elderly halfling Rose Morningbend was the renowned thief Black Betty, a formidable member of the Harpers. Through the efforts of Lyra, Sly, Rivaan, Karash, and Rose's roommates, they were able to hide "Black Betty" from the Zhentarim cronies who were after the scroll she had in her possession. Rose entrusted the scroll to Lyra, informing her that it was the way to find an important key- a key the Zhentarim had no business posessing in the first place. The scroll led Lyra's party to the Library of the Guild of Magisters, and through one of its paintings found a mysterious building on the back of the Tarrasque.
The party's struggle to obtain the key to Drakkar Tensilad was hard-won, as they had to face the guardians to prove they were worthy. The final battle with the Hydroloth was traumatic for Rivaan, but the worst trial for Lyra was the battle with the near Lich Ardulf- a ghost took possession of her, and she was left to watch helplessly as her body made every effort to attack her companions, despite Sly's attempts to grapple her until the possession wore off.
