Initially he earned his pay by performing odd jobs across the city. This was not sustainable, however. After having only spent a couple of months in the city he had already racked up considerable debt. This debt was mainly accumulated via gambling and bar tabs and it would quickly catch up to him. He was soon forced by the Grey Cobra Family, an organized gang who controlled a considerable amount business in Langenhurn, to pay off his debt owed to them by working for them. Initially he only worked as a low-level grunt that would occasionally be sent to clean up any messes left by a gang scuffle. Even still, he took part in his fair share of encounters. But Dinko soon began impressing his superiors by proving himself capable in hand-to-hand combat. It would only take a year until he was promoted to an enforcer.
His job was to patrol the northeast part of town and acting as muscle when necessary. The work was typically quite easily, usually ending in minor scuffles at the worst of times. During this time he befriended many fellow gang members and leaders. He quickly became acquaintances with the Gang’s leader: Talat Tevfik, a shrewd gray dragonkin frequently dressed in red suits. Dinko greatly looked up to Tevfik, who acted as a mentor of sorts towards him. Dinko soon began to follow his ideals of chivalry and fair business. Tevfik trusted Dinko and often invited him to “family” dinners and meetings. Dinko’s two closest friends was Rob Roes (https://30pq451ztmcl1t9ilw2ua6f2-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Pestily_Square-uai-258x258.jpg), a fellow enforcer and human partygoer, and Yaroslav Serbin (https://www.irishnews.com/picturesarchive/irishnews/irishnews/2020/02/16/190115700-c6b39a19-a24c-4c42-b3f5-184d27c5ebb9.jpg), halfling northeast city-quadrant officer. He also became quite renowned among gangsters and city goers alike for his unique yet effective fighting style, which incorporated dancing flourishes and style. This gave him the nickname “Dancin’ Dink”
As time went on, Dinko would go from and optimistic and loyal gangster to a disillusioned conscientious gangster. As he got deeper and deeper into the gang life, he would see more and more of the to him abhorrent methods. It was then when, after he had spent 24 years as an enforcer, his life would make a great shift.
After scuffles with a growing rival gang called “the Skulls” became increasingly frequent and violent Rob Roes began wanting out of the mob. Having grown older and having met a woman who he loved, he wanted to start a family. The precedent was that anybody who attempted to leave the family without any blessing from Tevfik would be severely punished (typically in the form of torture or execution). Tevfik would never have allow it however, especially now when he believed experienced manpower was key in defeating the Skulls. Rob would confide this to Dinko and Yaroslav, who were sympathetic and began planning with him a possible escape. They had planned for Rob to escape from Langenhurn during a meeting of most senior family members, which should have left them distracted. Dinko would help him escape the city unnoticed while Yaroslav would keep Tevfik and the rest distracted during the meeting. The plan had gone well initially, but just as they came within a handful of blocks away from one of the city gates, they were spotted by a Cobra officer, who had stayed behind to monitor Skull activity in their turf. Having been given orders to stop any Gray Cobra who tried to skip town, he proceeded to try to stop them. This led to Rob and him getting in a scuffle, which forced Dinko to use his fists to incapacitate him (making sure not to hurt him too much). The grateful Rob took the opportunity to make his escape, giving Dinko a brief farewell. Although Dinko was at first relieved and glad to have saved his friend, the realization that he had just committed treason against his gang and that he had drawn the Skull’s attention soon snapped him out it. In what seemed like the blink of an eye he had been surrounded by well-armed Skull gangster ready to pounce on him for the kill.
It was in this moment when he was saved by Finn Gaffney the monk. Using impressive and seasoned technique, Gaffney made quick work of the Skull members. When Dinko saw Gaffney standing on top of the unconscious-beaten bodies, he realized his true calling. He was convinced it was fate. Out of awe and necessity (he knew that both the Skulls and Gray Cobras would be hunting him down) Dinko begged Gaffney to take him with him and teach him his ways. Gaffney noded and they made a swift escape from the city.
Gaffney then took Dinko back to his temple. On the way there Gaffney explained that he had sought him out, after seeing potential in him during one of his shakedowns. Gaffney was a wise mentor, who wished to pass his technique and ideals down to those in who he saw potential. Dinko would then spend the next 3 years training with Gaffney and his disciples in his temple. This training led him to develop his dance-fighting technique into something greater, something that Gaffney would coin the “Way of the Rhythm”. When Dinko and the rest of the disciples reached the end of his training, the proud Gaffney told them that their training was not really done. He said that it will take time and application until their true potential was unlocked. Lastly, he told them to uphold their honor and to pass on his school of technique.
The naïve Dinko still believed that he could “make it up” to Tevfik and thus returned to Langenhurn. When Dinko slipped past his guards and made it into Tevfik to beg for forgiveness, he saw Tevfik staring back at him with a flintlock pistol leveled to his torso. The rest was a blur, but when Dinko awoke, it was in a dumpster half clinging to life. And so, by some miracle, Dinko was able to make it to a healer who was able to stitch him back together. Now in exile from Langenhurn, Dinko has numerous goals; become the greatest and most famous gangster in the world, perfect and spread "the way of the Rythm" technique, "make it up" with Tevfik, and party hard.

Personal history
Dinko was born as the youngest son of a large farming family. Farming life ultimately bored him, which led him to move out after he became an adult (aged 27), much to the behest of his parents. He moved to a large commercial city called Langenhurn. He would spend most of his free time reveling, dancing, drinking, and gambling. It was then when he soon discovered his true calling: the art of dance. He then began spending most of his spare time practicing his moves. His dream was to become the most renowned dancer of them all.
Initially he earned his pay by performing odd jobs across the city. This was not sustainable, however. After having only spent a couple of months in the city he had already racked up considerable debt. This debt was mainly accumulated via gambling and bar tabs and it would quickly catch up to him. Education
Was educated by his parents and a local communal school during his childhood and teen years. Recently completed martial arts training at Finn Gaffney's renowned temple.
Employment
Used to be a high ranking and well respected gang enforcer for the Gray Cobra Family in Langenhurn 3 years ago.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Was sought out by Finn Gaffney, a renowned monk and martial artist, and completed his training, which is renowned for being incredibly difficult and taxing.
Failures & Embarrassments
Betrayed his gang and was shot for it while trying to "reconcile". Still naively believes he can make amends.
Intellectual Characteristics
While not being and idiot and very street smart, Dinko is not quite the sharpest tool in the shed and it often blinds him.
Morality & Philosophy
Despite having to betray his gang for a friend and being shot while trying to make up for it, Dinko's exile does not really way on him. He is glad he was able to save a friend and still believes he can please Tevfik. He keeps an optimistic outlook and believes that fate will guide him through thick and thin. However, he does have a short-temper and mentioning his gambling debt or him being shot by his boss is a surefire way to tick him off.
