Appearance
Physical Description
Nasim is a strongly-built man with nice, broad shoulders and a tapered waist. He is of average height.
Body Features
Nasim has spent a lot of years carrying heavy equipment around on his own, so he is strong.
Until recently, his body was left relatively unmarred by his combats. Now, however, he has shark bite scars on left side and right thigh in addition to a stab wound through his stomach.
Facial Features
Underneath all the scars, Nasim is a very good-looking young man in a soft and pretty way. He has doe-like brown eyes framed by nice, thick lashes, soft lips, a decent but not too thick jawline, and good bone structure. The scars warp his features, however; on the left side, his lip is twisted into a permanent half-frown by a scar from a bandit's knife. His nose, once very straight and high, curves inward around two gashes he received from a clawed beast.
Identifying Characteristics
Nasim can be most easily identified by the mess of scars running across his face and by the disconcerting youthfulness of his skin and features underneath them. Most of these are slashing scars, but more recently something else has been added: two gunshot wounds. One is a graze running along his forehead on the left side, intermingling neatly with a swipe from a robber's sword; the other is splashed across the center of his forehead and was intended to be a killing blow. These two scars came courtesy of Soluun Xibrindas, a drow serial killer, and are thus far unavenged.
Apparel & Accessories
Nasim wears a simple grey linen shirt and well-worn black trousers, along with durable brown leather boots. Normally, he can also be seen wearing his finest item: a suit of mithral chainmail, which was given to him in parting by his temple, and a tired old shield with the symbol of Ilmater almost worn away.
Special abilities
Nasim is a paladin, and he has sworn an Oath of Devotion. As such, he can cure illnesses, sense the presence of undead, celestials, fiends, and both consecrated and desecrated ground, channel divine energy into his strikes, and he has access to magic.

Personal history
Nasim Kidrak was dropped off at a roadside(specifically the Dessarin Road) temple in the Dessarin Valley at a young age. He doesn't remember exactly how old he was, but he has vague memories of his old home: a decrepit old manor. After this, he was raised by priests of Ilmater. He still feels he owes them all his life, particularly the priest (then-acolyte, now Brother Tuskann— half-orc priest who always treated Nasim with exceptional kindness, having known the feeling of being an outsider and not wanting the child to understand this) who initially took him in.
Nasim was eager to learn and even more eager to prove himself. He felt that if his parents had abandoned him, it must be because he’d somehow been not good enough, and that working hard enough would prove them wrong. He was a model student, memorizing chants and tenets with ease. When he was around eight years old, another boy his age was taken in as an acolyte: Caden Cliffport. The two became fast friends and would often study together. More and younger children would join them later, but Nasim and Caden were always the closest. Until Runa Grithdottir appeared.
Unlike the other children Nasim knew, Runa was not an acolyte but a child from a nearby village. Her parents (she would tell him eventually) had moved around a lot until they found the Dessarin Valley and fell in love with a little house that was being sold there. They had always been loyal followers of Imlater, so having it be close to the temple Nasim lived in seemed to be a sign. They loyally visited the temple for worship as often as they could. When Nasim saw her family, he was immediately struck by Runa. It was not the first time he had been attracted to someone, nor even the first time he’d fallen in love. But it was the first time that person had not been someone living in the temple, which seemed to him far more viable. After a while, Runa noticed him, too, and fortunately she returned the interest.
This would have been a very simple teenage romance if Caden hadn’t become jealous. On the one hand, he, too, was interested in Runa; she was a pretty girl with uncommonly beautiful blonde hair and doe-like, droopy dark blue eyes. But on the other, he had never really been close with anyone else but Nasim and he disliked being second to anyone else. It likely hurt him to feel rejected on both fronts. Whatever the case, the guilt of it weighed heavily on Nasim until he decided to break everything off with Runa. She took it well, but things were awkward between them afterwards. At that time, he was around 18 and they’d been dating “furtively” (probably everyone knew, but nobody minded) for around four years. To this day, he still wonders what might have happened if he hadn’t let himself be worn down over time by the pressure. The awkwardness of his break-up with Runa ensured he never acted on his attraction to Caden, but he has wondered how things might have turned out differently if he had not been deterred.
Nasim’s initiation as a paladin was an undertaking pursued both because of a need for enforcers and out of a sense of duty. He swore to martyr himself for Ilmater and for everyone; to take as much pain as he could bear if it meant others would be spared it. It was, of course, an honour. Caden took the same oath, but he seemed less enthusiastic. His faith had perhaps waned. Nasim didn’t know what to make of it. They were both to be sent on pilgrimages; Caden to The House of the Broken God in Calimshan, Nasim to the End’s Rest temple in Heliogabalus. Nasim departed sooner than Caden, at Caden’s urging. As part of his pilgrimage, he was given two gifts: a beautiful mithril chainmail, to protect him from damage, and the broken hilt of a sword to remind him his aim was to heal and protect, not to kill.
When he returned from his pilgrimage, it was to a broken Dessarin Valley. In his absence, it had been nearly destroyed. His little temple of the White Iris remained, and its priests were tending to the wounded and starving. Nasim had never seen so much destruction. As if that were not difficult enough for the boy to handle, when he asked about Caden he was only told that his friend had committed a horrible crime and run off. The priests would not tell him what it had been, only that it had broken their hearts. Brother Tuskann sat down with Nasim and told them it would be his job to find Caden and kill him, but Nasim volunteered for the job. He would not let Brother Tuskann suffer the emotional pain of completing this mission. On that day, he took his final oath: the Oath of Devotion, and Brother Tuskann blessed him on his journey. He gave the paladin a black statuette of a dragon, a keepsake of his gentle orcish father’s, and told Nasim to keep it near him to remember the spirit under which he took this mission upon himself.
