Gantor's Story
Gantor was born and raised in the slums of Everlund, an area known as the Stones. He has no recollection of his father and was raised by his hard-working mother, Shaena. The halfling woman was hardworking and earnest and she managed to make a good life for her and her son. She even managed to do well enough to purchase a cottage for the two of them when Gantor was just twelve years old.
Unfortunately, Shaena was very rarely at home and her rambunctious progeny soon took to the streets to entertain himself. A gifted trickster, Gantor started to make a name for himself as a street entertainer. And he also started to make some money for himself as a pickpocket. Soon, Gantor was running with other roguish types including two fellow halflings: Zyle Shadescale and Carlton Banks.
When the hordes came, most of Everlund's able-bodied warriors and the like went to fight. The sudden reduction in population had the twin effect of making the pursuits of criminals and rogues easier but giving them a much reduced pool of potential targets. Another thing that the wars did was lead to the dismissal of Shaena by the noble family that had employed her as a house hand practically all her life. Gantor's mother was forced into scrambling for work and Gantor developed and nurtured a resentment for the nobles in question.
Not long after the wars, Gantor's off and on ally, Carlton was mysteriously murdered. The rogue's adventuring days were thrown into a rut as a result. He cast about for some time until he again took up with a group of adventurers. The group took a mission to find a missing man and the journey took them into the Icewind Mountains. There they discovered a long-hidden tower. Within, they discovered numerous treasures including a powerful orb that changed their lives forever. After delivering this relic to the masters of a powerful arcane guild in Westport, Gantor remained there.
Gantor's Description & Mannerisms
Gantor is thin and lanky. Taller than many of his kind, he stands three and a half feet tall and weighs about 40 pounds. He has pale skin and da hair which he keeps cut short. Besides his height, his bright hazel eyes are his most distinguishing physical feature. Gantor is a bit of a dandy and likes to dress very well. He's often found in fancy clothes and prefers blue, red, and green garments.
The halfling rogue is naturally gregarious and outgoing. He loves talking up a storm and has honed his ability to enrapture those who will listen to his stories to an art. An astute and acerbic observer of Gantor might comment that he could talk any man out of his purse and any woman out of her dress. If pressed, Gantor would assert to both these talents. He knows he has left many bereft of their coin, cuckolded, or both. Gantor is also naturally inquisitive and he has interest in and affinity for the arcane arts.
