Darius was an Aasimar born in 1462 DR in the distant empire Mulhorand. He descended from a Solar which may explain his extraordinary appearance. He was a chosen (Divine Soul) of Lathander, The Morninglord. As many of his kind (Scourge Aasimar), Darius usually wore a mask covering his face, thereby trying to "contain" the divine fervor burning in his mind and heart to purge evil from Faerûn.

As most Aasimars, Darius was driven by divine fervor to strike down evil and protect the innocent. His guiding spirit for this was the angel Seraphina, a Deva. Seraphina was more kind-hearted than a lot of other angels and her prime focus was to protect and shelter those who could not defend themselves. This was what she taught Darius during his dreams, resulting in Darius being mainly interested in protection and supporting the weak and his friends and allies. However, when Darius came to age he had to realize that there was more to his relationship with Seraphina than just the being "master and student" - Darius actually fell in love with his angelic guardian whom he had never seen outside of his dreams. This resulted in a crisis of faith as Darius was not sure anymore if his devotion was driven by his intrinsic fervor or just by his love to Seraphina. He spent several years in contemplation, roaming around the realms to seek answers and find what really drove his innermost spirit. Unfortunately, he is still searching for the answer to this question ...
