Appearance
Physical Description
Large and tall. Looks kind of like a human, if you ignore her height.
Body Features
Her skin is an unnatural shade of gray (unnatural for humans anyway).
Facial Features
She has a scar across her nose and cultural tattoos. The number of tattoos indicates her standing within her tribe.
Identifying Characteristics
Tattoos unique to her clan, a deep scar upon each hand from a blood ritual, an aura of mystery and doom.
Physical quirks
Can go longer than usual without blinking. When she uses aberrant magic, her eyes go black. Her blood is very dark, almost black but not quite.
Apparel & Accessories
The prison warden took most of her belongings (her clothes were torn and stained anyway), but left her nondescript jewelry, ceremonial goat horn, and seemingly innocuous pipe that creates skull-shaped clouds only when she smokes it.

Personal history
Barbaura was born to a matriachal clan of Jotunnar, lead by her Mother, the Jarl. From birth her life was very structured, and she was forced to marry and have children as was expected of her. She loved her two children, a daughter and son, but found she was completely uninterested in her husband and hated the forced structure of her life. But she could not leave, as all her life she grew up both worshiping and fearing the mists that blanketed the bottom of the mountain.
As part of the Jarl's bloodline, she was 'gifted' with the chance to take on some of the power of the mists in exchange for a permanent change in her very soul that not even the Jarl fully understood. Though she privately questioned the nature of her family's power and the structure of her clan, publicly she had no choice but to step in line. Upon the 39th celebration of her birth, her mother finally decided she was ready to accept the power of the fog. In a ritual ceremony held just above the mist line, Barbaura's palm was cut and an impossibly black ink was poured from a ritual bowl. When the ink spread into her wound, she witnessed aberrant horrors beyond her comprehension that shocked her very psyche. When she came to, she found herself branded with the unique mark found on other matrons of her family. At that moment, she knew that she had to do something, lest her own children fall to the clutches of the horror of the mists.
That very night, without hesitation, she laid waste to her entire (albeit small) clan. Even her children were not spared from the carnage, as she knew (or believed) that it was the only way to save their souls. The only solace she could provide to her family was slitting their throats in the early hours of the morning before the rest of their clan met their fate. She was able, somehow, to end the lives of her clan; maybe no one expected someone to rebel in such a fashion, or maybe it was fated to happen. The trauma of the event left voids in Barbaura's mind, so unfortunately she cannot be sure she put an end to the most powerful among them: her mother, Jarl Geamhradh.
Education
Barb has received training in sorcery since birth, though her aberrant skills are more recently acquired. She has some degree of control over these skills, though she isn't sure exactly how she knows why.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Mass Murder
Failures & Embarrassments
Also Mass Murder
Mental Trauma
She has seen much through her experience in the cult, from the sacrifice of creatures, the killing of those who questioned the Jarl, to visions of abyssal horrors beyond comprehension. And of course, the event that lead her to where she is now.
Intellectual Characteristics
She is actually quite wise and introspective, but she rarely shows it due to her often singular way of thinking.
Morality & Philosophy
She has one singular goal: to discover the evil haunting her and sever it's control over our world. Beyond that, nothing else matters. She has realized that to do so, she may have to hurt the ones she loves, but she will do what it takes.
person.sexuality
Though she had a husband and children through him, she never really cared much for men even beyond what was sanctioned by her clan. Romance and love was not a consideration in the clan, and relationships were only meant as a means of producing daughters who would further the Jarl's bloodline. Relationships between female members of the clan was out of the question as it was seen as anathema to the clan's goals, though she was attracted to them much to her dismay. Later, after being exposed to the world beyond her mountain home, she found she was attracted to fem and androgynous non-binary folk as well.

Quotes & Catchphrases
Do not stand
By my grave, and weep.
I am not there,
I do not sleep—
I am the thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints in snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle, autumn rain.
As you awake with morning’s hush,
I am the swift, up-flinging rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight,
I am the day transcending night.
Do not stand
By my grave, and cry—
I am not there,
I did not die.

Savvies & Ineptitudes
She is socially awkward which makes her blunt, cold and unfeeling. However, she does care for those who have been victimized, and can even rarely show a motherly side. Due to her upbringing and personal motivation, she doesn't care much about what others think and can be impartial about things that don't concern her or her goals.

Otherwise, her clan used to outwardly worship their supposed ancestors, the frost jotunn.

She doesn't know how to talk to people due to being unfamiliar with anything outside of her clan. Almost everyone distrusts her or treats her like a monster because of her unknown nature.
Mannerisms
She is quiet, dark, and very off-putting even when she isn't performing magic. She can often be found levitating, smoking her pipe or reading poetry.
Speech
She often quotes poetry as part of her speech, when she deigns to speak more than a few words at a time.
