Personal history

Raised in Leyndell, Remus grew up under two loving parents with his younger sister Artemis. He was never a brilliant student, but he had a passion for life and energetic optimism that carried him through his childhood. He was an athletic child and decided when he was a child to join the school for knights within the capital. He graduated as a lauded student when he became a young adult and was rushed off to the fronts of the Shattering to fight for his home. He quickly earned the respect of his generals with his bravery and combat prowess and was promoted to lieutenant at a remarkably young age. During a lull in the war, Remus returned to his hometown, where he was informed of a new responsibility he would carry: maintenance of the Omen Juggernauts. Remus, at first, was thrilled at his promotion, but elation quickly turned to horror when Remus saw the atrocious conditions the Omen had to endure. Despite the years of intense warfare, the cold bitterness and jade that often plagues soldiers never quite breached the young knight’s heart. Remus was a dutiful soldier and followed his orders for as long as he could bear, but over time he began to befriend the Omen and simply could no longer stand to keep the tortured innocent creatures as cannon fodder. One fateful night, following his maintenance shift, Remus snuck back into the sewers of Leyndell and released the Omen from their prison. Although his heart burned with righteous passion, Remus felt something within the depths of his soul die that night. A coldness that he could never seem to shake. Never one to shy from confrontation, Remus proudly admitted to his actions and defiantly stood against his generals. He was brought before the Masked Monarch and threatened with execution, but when the Masked Monarch saw him, they realized that Remus had committed a grievous sin by aiding an ostracized people and, as such, had become Tarnished. Instead of a merciful death, the Masked Monarch instead ordered Remus to join the Tarnished in their march to the badlands, where he would suffer an even worse fate. Remus met his end facing off against a colossal wolf where he was torn limb from limb in an agonizingly slow demise. However, the tale of the young knight was not yet finished. In the darkness beyond, Remus was met with a mass of golden light. The mass offered him a choice: death or servitude. Remus chose the latter and forged a pact with the Greater Will. In exchange for his life, he vowed to slay the demigods that stole fragments of the great Elden Ring and become Elden Lord. In his heart, Remus also hoped that by his ascension, he could be the herald of a more just world where true equality and peace flourish.
