Background
Lynashtai (Lyn) was born in Eston, Cyre, in a small Kalashtar community. The community focused heavily on their faith and Lyn learned to follow the path of the light, however she had a bigger interest in all the magical things that were around. The war has touched many communities and when Lyn was 10 an attack wounded several in the community among them was a group who had been visiting from Aundair. Lyn's family was helping those injured in recovery and Lyn meet a girl who was slightly older than her and the two became friends. The girl's name is Victoria, and she would tell stories of things from her homeland, in return Lyn would show her things around town. Victoria and her family stayed with them until Victoria developed a dragonmark when she was 15. Her family was surprised and gratful, it had been a sore spot as Victoria's mother and grandfather and not developed one, but her grandfathers siblings both had. With the development of Victoria's dragonmark her family sought to immediately return home to be closer to their contacts within House Orien. Lyn being very curious about Victoria's land tried to convince all the parents involved to let her come with. It took some time, but with Victoria's help they convinced both their parents to let the two girls stay together.
Lyn got to see many sights along the way as they traveled to Ghalt, Aundair. Once there Lyn began to learn about magic, and got to see Victoria less and less as she started to have more responsibilities within House Orien. Lyn managed to stay in touch with her family back home, but had been unable to visit them with travel being difficult due to the war. She did manage to return around her 18th birthday, Renari gave Lyn a new necklace with the holy symbol for the Path of the Light. Lyn Shared stories and brought both her parents a gift from Aundair. Lyn returned to Ghalt to continue to learn about things called pacts that people had made in the past to gain power from powerful entities. When word of the Mourning came in Lyn didn't want to believe it, but it was not something she could deny for long. Lyn was devastated, word had it that everyone in the country had died within moments, and there was nothing left. It took a while before she regained any motivation to continue learning magic, and it was around this time she received a letter. Her father and one of his friends and made it, but the rest of the community was gone, even her mother. For Lyn it was only good news, her father who she had already considered dead was alive. Pohareth informed her that he was in Thrane but they had been moving him around and that he would send word again when he had settled down and they could see each other again.
Lyn decided that she would find out what happened to her homeland, and for that she would need some powerful magic. Lyn spent time learning what was required to create a pact, and eventually made one for herself. Dionita was a celestial, not a fey like most of the other pacts she had researched but not unheard of in literature. Lyn was seeking to get stronger and learn about what all took place, and Dionita gave her a place to start, Whisper Rock. Victoria told her where it was and Lyn gave her a big hug, said she would keep in touch, and the set out on a journey of discovery.
Leaving home was easy, a caravan heading to Fairhaven with mail had extra room and she was able to tag along with them, they did need to spend some time to deliver a few things in the cities along the way but Lyn enjoyed getting to see some new places. Fairhaven was one of the stops of the Lightning Rail, while the rail went by Ghalt but it didn't stop there so Lyn took the opportunity to get a closer look at the arcane wonder. It took a bit longer but eventually Lyn found a group that was taking the norther route to Thaliost. The road ahead was a lot less traveled, with the journey being quiet along the way to Askelios, but once there it was time to go alone. It felt strange to Lyn, leaving the town alone, she had always been around others, even if they didn't talk to her. The road felt eerie, even when she did pass by other travelers a friendly wave was meet with simply a nod or a wave, some just ignored her entirely. Lyn stopped at the edge of the forest, the quietness of it all, nobody else was around. She wondered if she would here the whispers that this place was known for, as she took her first steps inside.
