A Mother's Grief
Alarde couldn't quite get warm in her bed. Even with the embrace of multiple blankets, her blood ran cold. Sitting there, she felt an emptiness that had never touched her heart before. For her beloved creations to have been destroyed, killed, so easily.
The storm brewing within her was almost too much to bear. Rage: that was what she felt. The things she loved most in this world were taken away from her so effortlessly, and she was powerless to stop it. The vicious cycle only continued to make her feelings grow stronger.
The room exploded with sharp noises as windows shattered all around her. The tears wouldn't stop, try as she might. Her hand clung tightly to her face, her nails digging into her forehead enough to draw blood. Why? was all she could think. Why couldn't I stop this from happening? Why did I go along? Why must they go?
Energy welled up inside her, flinging furniture throughout the room. Fragments of the wall began to tear loose and float through the air. Please... don't leave me alone again
Her hand gripped tighter around her face. "Please... don't leave me!" She screamed out, her emotions overtaking her. Alarde's only wish now was to restore what she had done, to fix her mistakes and bring back what she had lost.
In the face of sorrow, the hope to regain what has been taken; an openness to change the world for the sake of something beloved.
Alarde stretched her hand before her, and unleashed every bit of magic she could. Her hands moved nimbly, tugging at the air as if weaving the magic, willing it to do as she bade.
The ring on her finger started to glow a vibrant blue, the symbol of the ram beginning to change form slightly. The walls of her house drifted back together slowly, leaving no cracks behind.
The ring began to glow like hot iron, a bright white-red. Alarde did not flinch as the metal burned her finger horribly. The furniture righted itself, the table and chairs setting themselves.
The metal cooled eventually, the ring left glowing a faint blue, the ram's horns were longer than before. Alarde fell back in exhaustion as the windows began to become whole bit by bit.
The curtains were drawn slowly, leaving Alarde to drift to sleep in the comfortable dimness of her room.
