Born with obvious signs of infernal descent, Tolman has had a harsh life for one so young. Treated little better than an animal by his stepfather, he works in the back room of the bakery during the day while having a small taste of freedom after his chores are done. The town sage, Allustan, pressed the parents for Tolman to attend lessons like the other children and younglings of Diamond Lake. He also spends time learning at the Bronzewood Lodge.
