Reverence(Rev) Cresthill is a male wood elf hailing from the city of Loggenspire. As a baby he was left by his parents on the doorsteps of the Promising Futures Orphanarium(PFO).
Growing up Reverence never really had a parent figure or a role model, choosing to hang out with kids his age running around the city engaging in delinquent behavior such as cons and petty thievery. Just as his chronic run-ins with the law were about to get him kicked out of the PFO, Rev was fostered by Revis and Lenora Cresthill, a rather well off scholarly couple, and faculty members of the Loggenspire Institute of Technomancy. After they found out they were unable to bear a child they felt a connection with Rev's elven heritage. Under their care Rev learned to read and write, but were ultimately surprised when Reverence showed an aptitude for magic. They taught him what they could, and even enrolled him in the Loggenspire Academy where he excelled in arcane studies and practice. Everything was going well academically and at home to the point that Rev was comfortable enough and his parents vice versa to adopt the Cresthill family name.
However, Rev’s past eventually caught up to him, as his friends re-entered the picture, and had invited him back for larger and more lucrative crimes. The thrill of the next job, along with the companionship of his old friends was too much for Rev to resist. With the aid of his newly found and harnessed magical talents, it became easy to carry out the jobs, and just as importantly to elude the law. Later in his teens though, the city leaders pushed back against crime in an effort to clean the streets, and Rev was finally captured sent to jail. His involvement as the de facto ringleader in these crimes led to his immediate expulsion from the Academy, and tarnished his family name to the point that Revis and Lenora reluctantly kicked him out of the house, stating that his chronic string of criminal involvement would not be tolerated.
Now too old for the system, Rev was forced to survive in the streets, homeless, doubling his efforts to provide for himself, while continuing to harness and progress with his arcane aptitude. It didn't take Reverence long to master life on the streets where he gained some notoriety on the city level.
At one point, he was approached by a mysterious figure who turned Rev to the darker side of the city asking him to discreetly slay a rival gang member. Up until then Reverence never really taken another person’s life(he’s once came close to nearly beating a man to death), but money and opportunities were tight, plus the reward was lucrative, so Rev accepted the contract. Again Rev found the task surprisingly easy especially with his skill set, and upon completion was handsomely rewarded.
Surprisingly, his next opportunity did not come for a few months, when he was given a contract for a local merchant. Once again Rev completed the contract, but not before finding out that another guild had arrived shortly thereafter hunting the same contract. His potential was recognized by this second assassin, and was extended the invitation to join the guild he was currently, called The Reach. He emphasized that being a member of an assassin’s guild offered more job stability than being an independent contractor, and more money, both of which Rev was continually in search of. Now as a member of the Reach, Reverence uses his encyclopedia of contacts as well as depth of knowledge of Loggenspire street life to carry out his contracts with the deadliest efficiency.
This lifestyle was something that he could get used to even going so far to recruit an old acquaintance by the name of Jonesy "The Fingers" a halfling peer he had met while his time at the Orphanarium who had also displayed a unique skillset that might be befitting of the guild.
