Physical Description

A shock of bright orange curls interspersed with white sit above angular, androgynous features and pale skin. Two sharp eyes, one pitch black, the other amber, gaze through delicate half moon reading spectacles. An assortment of golden jewellery adorns pointed ears and fingers. Twining patterns of exotic turquoise spread across the skin of the left arm, artfully concealing a dragonmark on the back of a hand, covered with an elbow length glove for good measure.

Personal history

Born in Cyre 20 years before the start of The Last War, August spent his early life as a member of a local minor and rather unremarkable thieves guild. Living day-to-day off the tips he as a street magician, part time musician, and the coin whisked out of an unsuspecting stranger's pocket.
 
Through either a turn of luck or fate or something else August's future changed when he was caught red handed attempting to steal from a senior member of House Phiarlan . The only thing that saved him was his own dragonmark, newly manifested. Recognising both talent and ambition in the young August, Tenacity 'Ten' d'Phiarlan took the elf as his protege, becoming his benefactor and sponsor to the House. The two left for Aundair shortly after, where August would begin his formal study of magic and shadows. The following year saw the beginning of The Last War.
 
August took to Aundair as though he was made for it and under the tutelage of House Phiarlan discovered his talents were best suited to research and magical arts than to crude snatch-and-grabs. The Last War was, in plain terms, good business for many of the dragonmarked houses, House Phairlan included, and August rose steadily through its ranks over the next decades. Having been noted for his dedication to perfection, attention to detail, and particular affinity for information retrieval, he was eventually invited to become a shadow agent for the Serpentine Table.
 
Though holding no love or affinity for Cyre, considering himself a member of House Phairlan first and an Aundairian second, the demise of the nation still proved to be a shock. The mystery of The Mournland remaining an ever-present and dangerous allure.
 
Now, five years after the signing of the Treaty of Thronehold, August finds himself in Xen'drik, on a mission for House Phiarlan that is close to his heart - his mentor and benefactor, Ten, has gone missing and all roads lead south.

Though August considers himself Aundarian, not Elven and hold no ties to the past there's a part of him that wishes to overshadow the others with to prove one doesn't need blood to be great.
