Brandon grew up in the town of Bomyard, but he wasn’t one for a standard life, once he hit the age of 15 he made the decision to up and leave home, his mother had died when he was young and his father was a drunk who barely acknowledged his existence so leaving was not much of a burden. He was lurking around the local Inns and caught wind of a crew being formed, he decided to infiltrate the crew before they set sail for their mission, once on board he stayed hidden for a few days until he was discovered by one of the crew, since they were out at sea there was no way to dispose of him he stuck around and was a deckhand upon the ship until they could next make port to get rid of him.
 
While they were cruising the calm seas, the ship, Obunga’s Revenge, was suddenly attacked by a mysterious ship, the ship had risen from the depths and appeared to be flying the flag associated with the fleet of Davy Jones, when looking at the ship, the crew consisted of skeletons, not in the figurative sense but a literal sense, since the Obunga was caught off guard the mysterious ship had gained the upper hand and dealt some damage with various spells, but the captain of the Obunga, Captain Johnathan Twiddle had rallied the crew and the Obunga had almost escaped except for a shot of a lightning bolt from a magical trident, which incapacitated Captain Twiddle, the crew was stunned like rabbits in headlights which allowed the skeleton crew to gain on them and initiate combat once more.
Upon realising that the crew was doomed if no one took charge the young Brandon ran to the top deck, took control of the wheel and starting barking orders at the crew and acting on the tales that he had read during his youth of great admirals and pirates such as , after a moment of hesitation and another bolt hitting the ship the crew leaped into action and began acting upon the young Brandon’s commands, he successfully mounted a counter offensive and with some fine spells managed to sink the skeleton ship and save the crew, the crew were eternally faithful to young Brandon for his leadership and skills to save them.
 
Some days later when Captain Twiddle came around it is revealed that he has lost a leg and Twiddle the horror on his face sets in when he realises he in unable to captain the ship, with haste he rushes to the deck and commands the attention of the crew, eagerly listening Twiddle announces to the crew his impending resignation, he also announces his successor, and to Brandon’s surprise young he is announced as captain as the crew leave out a loud roar of approval.
 
During his 20 years of service as captain of the Obunga he lead many quests for lost riches and rumoured treasures such as the Fountain of Youth and the lost treasure of the legendary Bruno Goncalves, it was on one of these quests that he had learned to master spells that allowed him to master the elements such as Thunderclap, Gust, Burning Hands, Fog Cloud and Shape Water, he learned these from inscribing's on a cave wall when following rumours of the Gem of Oakwarley, he also managed to learn the Mending skill while in port of a strange shore one evening.
 
He he has gained many allies during his travels, such as Patrick Barkley who is his loyal first mate, as well as Gwyneth Jones another loyal member of the crew, but the ally that outshines them is Collins, he is a creature based off Captain Brandon's old bird, the original Bird, was named Collins and he picked him up while in port one year and went with Brandon wherever he travelled for many years, Collins died one year and it tore the heart of Brandon in two, but on one Thawn evening while escaping the grips of Davy Jones who vowed revenge on Brandon for sinking a member of his fleet (the skeleton ship) Brandon found himself sailing into a cave which Jones refused to enter and within he found a strange substance called Vaseline which is malleable and is able to mimic the properties of living substances, and Brandon in his darkest moment with Jones awaiting him outside of the cave and the crew facing death the Vaseline morphed itself into a version of Collins and has kept Brandon company ever since.
