Personal history
Jon was born in Darkmantle Hall to a single human mother, Evosa Markas. She was not a wealthy person by any means, but she wasn't poor either. She owned a small shop called The Silver Spoon, where she sold silverwear and other silver items. He had no father figure in his life. He neverknew his actual father, or anything about the man. His father was a celestial who went by the name Falsk. Everyone thought he was just a normal human, even Evosa. He left after learning that Evosa had fallen pregnant. He grew up helping in the shop where he could, and getting into trouble elsewhere. He wasn't a problem child, just a rambunctious one. He loved adventuring and playing soldier. Soldiers were his favorite pastime. He would go visit the garrison houses as often as he could to talk with the men and women there to ask about their latest escapades, their battle stories, and their heroic efforts. It was all very exciting for young Jon. The soldiers in Darkmantle took a strong liking to him and loved his visits, annoying as he was. Not many of them liked fighting, but they also didn't want to dampen such a bright spirit. Jon had decided that he wanted to become a soldier, no matter what. His teenage years saw him become much more mature and understanding of what the Darkmantle garrison went through during all of those frequent attacks from the south. He understood that people, friends, died, were severely injured, or just disappeared entirely. He wasn't scared off by all of the pain and death. In fact, it drove him to study the art of war, strategy, tactics, and any weapon he could get his hands on. He would never give up on hisdream of becoming a soldier. He didn't want to be just any rank and file military man, he wanted to be the one in charge. If only he could become a commander, someone in charge of a large unit, he could do something to stop the southern attacks once and for all. He had studied for that purpose. When he turned 18, his mother could no longer stop him from joining the army. He joined that very day. It didn't take him very long to rise in the ranks, seeing as he had already done most of the work before he joined. All he really needed was the practical experience, which he got relatively quickly. He was a lieutenant within a year, and a captain within 10. He gained many friends and contacts along the way. He was well liked by most, and greatly respected by all but the most disobedient and lazy soldiers under his command. In his thirteenth year in the army, his fourth year as a Captain, he was assigned a special task. He was to take his large platoon of nearly 100 troops to a large raiding camp South of the pass, and destroy it as completely as possible. Little did he or his Commanding Officers know, there was a large-scale attack being set up there. When they launched their sneak attack, they were vastly outnumbered, and their element of surprise was all but useless. His soldiers were wiped out almost completely by the combination of Orcs, Goblinoids, and Hill Giants that were gathering there. They never had a chance. He called a retreat, but the enemies pursued them relentlessly back to the Pass. Only 17 people and Jon himself survived the retreat. He was so ashamedthat he considered retiring after only 13 years. What finally forced him to retire was the threat of demotion from his Commanding Officer, General Gwinmora Rumnaheim, a Dwarf who wasn't fond of looking bad in front of her superiors. She all but forced Jon to take the fall for this awful tragedy. When he left, he was honorably discharged, but he would never forget the horror and shame of that day. It would follow him for the rest of his life, because he would never let himself escape it.He left Darkmantle soon after his retirement, and went north to find a new life. He was reluctant to stay in Darkmantle with the shame of knowing he lost so many of the soldiers stationed there. He didn't want to leave his mother there by herself, but he knew there was no other way. She just couldn't, and wouldn't, go with him. She couldn't uproot her life and leave her shop with no promises of finding another safe place to live any time soon. so, she stayed, and he left. He made sure she didn't have to run the shop by herself by asking his childhood sweeheart, a Wood Elf named Enthrea Liakiir, to help take care of things and watch over Evosa. She was happy to help, as she loved Evosa and Jon, and was promised a good wage for being a personal assistant and shop employee for Jon's mother. With all his affairs in order, he left Darkmantle. He soon found himself working as a sellsword on the South area of the Embershade Sea. He had many chances to explore much of the area, andbecame very familiar with it. He started working for an old Dwarven nobleman in Fallow named Bundus Tryus about four years after departing from Darkmantle. He had Jon doing all sorts of tasks, from menial labor, to personal protection. He worked for him for 19 years before Bundus died of old age. Not much of importance happened during those 19 years, other than he became more skilled at his weapons and craft. He was also awarded some fairly potent magical itemsfrom the grizzled old Dwarf, including a full set of Magical Plate Armor, and a Magical Longsword, both of which, he still uses. After Bundus Tyrus died, he had no employment, so he followed a rumor of a place in the North called Eventyr Academy, where adventurers could go to become more powerful. It took him quite some time to actually arrive there, as he quickly ran out of money in Lunar. He had to find more work as a sellsword to pay his way there. Once he finally got to Eventyr, he was quickly accepted into the ranks of adventurers there, and was promoted to the rank of Adventurer within 6 months. This is where he finds himself now, with a group of Six other Adventurers on a mad quest to apparently release an elder demon from it's bonds?!?! Find out on the next episode of... THE SIDEQUESTERS!!
