Personal history
Cid’s earliest memories are a blur of shadows, pain, and fleeting moments of comfort twisted by cruel hands. For as long as he can remember, his life has been under the control of two malevolent beings: Eldenixzbarthixalachyrenessa, a cunning and sadistic Emerald Dragon, and Beauty, a Beholder with a vision of affection as warped as the eye stalks that surround her. These two beings, twisted lovers in their own right, raised Cid as their "son"—a term they used with the same casual malice as they did "tool" or "pawn."
Eldenix and Beauty took perverse joy in molding Cid into a weapon of malice. From a young age, Cid was subjected to torturous transformations, reshaped physically and mentally to fit the needs of whatever kingdom they targeted next. His memories were tampered with, his emotions manipulated, until even he no longer knew who he truly was. The dragon and the beholder claimed that he was born a Kenku, but Cid had no way of knowing if that was truth or just another lie in a lifetime of deceit.
Despite the darkness that surrounded their existence, Cid’s heart was not entirely consumed by the malevolence of their masters. Over the years, they infiltrated various knightly orders, wearing countless faces, names, and identities. Each time, they built new relationships, made friends, and sometimes even lovers. But every time, their mission was the same: find the weaknesses of those who trusted them, then betray them.
With each betrayal, a part of Cid died. The pain of turning on those he had grown to care for haunted him, and guilt gnawed at his soul. This last time, he was assigned to a kingdom where he served as a knight in the court of Duchess Leene. The duchess, a kind-hearted and astute woman, saw beyond Cid’s façade and formed a deep connection with him, bonding over arcane matters and architecture. For the first time, Cid found something he thought he’d lost forever: hope.
He couldn’t bring himself to betray her, nor the friends he had made among the castle guards, Biggs and Wedge. When the time came to fulfill his mission, Cid refused, defying the orders of his sadistic "parents." But his defiance did not go unnoticed. The kingdom he had been sent to spy for outed him, branding him a traitor. Forced to flee, Cid left behind the life he had begun to cherish, knowing he could never return.
Eldenix and Beauty, ever watchful, found great amusement in Cid’s predicament. They allowed him to run, but not without first stripping away much of the power they had bestowed upon him. As a final act of cruelty, they revealed to him a prophecy—a twisted vision of his future. In it, Cid saw himself as a Dark Lord in the Domains of Dread, ruling over a nightmarish realm, his soul consumed by darkness. The prophecy was as much a curse as it was a promise, a glimpse of the fate they had planned for him.
Now, Cid is a man on the run, burdened by the sins of his past and the shadow of the prophecy that haunts his future. He seeks redemption, though he believes it may be beyond his reach. He travels the land, trying to stay one step ahead of his former masters while grappling with the ever-present fear that he will eventually become the monster they want him to be.
Despite everything, Cid refuses to give in. He still carries the ideals of knighthood within him, twisted though they may be by his experiences. He fights for the innocent, not because he believes he can save them, but because he cannot bear to let others suffer as he has. In his heart, he knows that his future is written, and that every step he takes may lead him closer to the dark fate that awaits him. But until that day comes, Cid will continue to resist, clinging to the hope that he can change his destiny, even if it means defying fate itself.
