She barely returned home with her life, and spent many years after the fact wondering whether or not it was just a repetitious nightmare she had.
Now, as an adult, she knows for a fact it was real.
Appearance
Physical Description
While Adelaide is just barely over five feet tall, she is not just thin or frail by any means. Her arms and legs are toned from years of fencing and archery since pre-adolescence.
Body Features
She has tiny scars on her hands and arms from fencing and archery, as well as a larger scar on the outside of her right calf from her first encounter in the Scarlet Queen's palace. She claims she was hit with the blunt end of a guard's polearm while trying to escape the palace.
Facial Features
Adelaide has a heart-shaped face and a small nose. Her rounded eyes are a soft green color, and she has a small mole just under the outer corner of her left eye.
She has medium-length honey blonde hair, which has a natural wave to it.
Physical quirks
Adelaide has always found it difficult to stand or sit still for extended periods of time; a part of her body will eventually start moving when she's in one place for a while. A tap of the foot, a twiddle of the thumbs, glancing around the room, playing with a lock of hair, etc.
Apparel & Accessories
Adelaide's favorite color is blue and prefers to wear clothing in that color family. Her clothes are Victorian inspired, though she tends to wear pants more than skirts.
She wears some kind of hair ribbon or headband to keep her hair out of her face.
Mentality
Personal history
Adelaide was born to a well-to-do semi noble English family in the 1920s as the only daughter and youngest child out of three. She grew up sheltered from the cruelty of the world until she stumbled upon an entirely different kind of world as a child while visiting relatives in the countryside.
Nobody saw her disappear within the woods outside the garden; Adelaide's family only saw her come back to the house with tears in her eyes, dirt in her hair and clothes, and a shallow gash in her right leg. They assumed she took a bad fall while exploring, but the girl insisted she had stumbled into a nightmare.
It was only when her parents saw the toll Adelaide's anxiety was having on her health they realized something was wrong, and allowed her to take archery and fencing classes. This definitely helped her put a focus to her fears and build up her confidence, but her mental health would take another tailspin with the breakout of the Second World War.
Education
Adelaide received a good education due to the wealth her family possessed, and has completed her basic education. She is also trained in fencing and archery and knows how to play the piano.
Mental Trauma
Her first experience in the Rotted Wood, and especially what she saw in the Scarlet Queen's palace, has left her with intense anxiety. She has had nightmares about her experiences since childhood, which resurfaced again around the start of the Second World War and the first bombings of London.
The events of the war have also left her incredibly distrusting of anyone who hails from Germany or anyone who sympathizes with the Nazi regime.
person.gender_identity
Cisgendered female (she/her pronouns)
Known Languages
Her primary language is English, but she knows French and German from her schooling and can speak both languages almost fluently.
Personality
Motivation
Adelaide's primary drive is to face the nightmarish entity that is the Scarlet Queen. She wants to prove that she is no longer the "pathetic, helpless little girl" she was when she first came to the Palace.
Likes & Dislikes
Adelaide loves tea time and the treats associated with it; her favorite of which are cucumber sandwiches and French macarons (especially rose or pistachio).
She dislikes tea that has gone cold, and she also dislikes arrogant and egotistical people.
Vices & Personality flaws
Adelaide is quick to anger and loses her trust easily. Just underneath the layer of dignified upper-class Englishwoman is an unhinged and broken woman thirsting for revenge.
Hygiene
Adelaide likes to keep her appearance tidy, but she is not afraid to get her hands dirty when she needs to (as long as she can clean herself up at some point).

Contacts & Relations
Adelaide's parents are, to her knowledge, alive, and she still thinks highly of them.
She has two older brothers named Aaron and Harry, the eldest of whom is married with his own daughter. Harry enlisted in the War and Adelaide has heard little from him since.
Religious Views
Adelaide grew up in a Protestant Christian home and mostly adheres to the beliefs she grew up with. She wears a crucifix necklace under her clothing.
