But the world had other plans. As he grew, Beren found he could harness the powers of life to do many great things, such as heal the injured or smite the wicked with his bare hands. He took these as blessing of the goddess Sastrines, and shortly became regarded as his village's Cunning Man, chosen by the Harvest Queen herself.
But, after a tragedy that refuses to be remembered, Beren found himself ousted from his home and travelling the lonely roads of the world. Hearing that the warhost of Albion was gathering in the distant lands of Siberia, Beren journeyed many miles to meet with them and offer what aid he could give.

Personal history
After aiding the Lions of Albion at the dread city Kol Kathrak, Beren made a personal vow to Sastrines and fully accepted his new life as a Holy Man, to serve others in her name and see them safe from harms both physical and spiritual.
After escaping the city with the rest of the warhost Beren once again wandered the lands alone, taking time to commune with the creations of Sastrines. Through his meditations, Beren felt faint twinges of pain emanating from a place both close and hand but out of sight. Concerned, Beren journeyed to re-join the warhost.
With Beren in tow, the warhost used a mighty artefact to jump between realities. Upon landing, the source of the auras of pain turned out to be the cries of the trees, being coerced to serve dark masters in the form of Druids. Recognising them as anathema to his beliefs, Beren lent all the skills he could summon in the effort to defeat them.
During this time, he was able to assist in a great ritual and sacrificed some of his power to the cause of regrowing the great Thornwood in Elmet. It is the ultimate honour that part of him will now hopefully be eternally linked to the great temple of Sastrines which resides within that mighty forest.
After great effort by the Warhost the druids were vanquished but their own master - the great Tyrant is still at large. As the spell which brought the Lions to this other reality faded and they were thrown back into a much grimmer plane, Beren was greeted by the smell of smoke, the angry shouts of the rebel leaders and the resounding crash of explosions.
Beren accompanied the massed bulk of the warhost as they were led to the camp of the resistance, deep in the forests of Elvesham. During his time there, Beren was honoured to accept the role of Septem of Sastrines when it was offered to him by Teagan, the late Champion of Law. Upon Teagan's death Beren offered to perform the same duties for Syr Ailah, the new Champion. His offer was accepted and he pledged to act either and counsel or just a friendly ear whenever needed.
The fight against tyranny grinds on, but Beren senses a change within the warhost. It is not a lack of faith but the desire to have a beacon of justice to follow. The Lions need the seven, and Beren has sworn to work with his fellow members of the Septa to stoke the fires of faith and righteousness so that the warhost may march with light hearts and strong souls against anything which opposes them.
