In the middle of Destov, between the great lakes and the Destov mountain range, there is a prosperous fishing village of Fallvale. Here, young Marvil Flamewood was born. His parents were the head family of the village and acted as the village leaders for settling disputes and foreign affairs.
 
Throughout his childhood, Marvil was exposed to music from passing entertainers and became fascinated by their art. Eventually, one stayed in the village long enough for Marvil to learn the basics of music. This entertainer, Alfie Piey would eventually settle down in the village with one of the maidens and would go on to teach the children of the village songs and music. It was here in these lessons Marvil found love, her name was Natali, and when she sang Marvil melted. His family did not approve.
 
As the years went on Marvil caught the eye of the entertainer. This entertainer took Marvil aside and taught him basic magic and how to learn it. Marvil took this opportunity and relished in it, mostly because any time away from his critical parents was an escape. Taking an interest in the art of illusion and conjuration, Marvil would go on to master the Mage Hand at a young age. This enabled him to be mischievous and in his hometown, he became notorious as a troublemaker.
 
As Marvil came of age, his parents decided they knew what was best for him. One day they told him he was to marry the daughter of the head of a neighbouring village. Marvil refused. That night, he snuck out of his house and went to find Natali. Filled with emotion and rage, he planned to leave that night and asked her to accompany him. Natali refused to leave her parents, which started an argument between the two. This argument drew the attention of neighbors who went to find Marvil’s parents. When Marvil’s parents arrived, Marvil and Natali were still in conflict, both of which were in tears at this point. Furious, Marvil’s mother declared that Marvil had betrayed his family and village, and disowned her son on the spot. Marvil was exiled.
 
Marvil left his home village the next day. Soon, his mischievous side caught the attention of the thieves guild, and he was taken in after they saw his magical talents. Years passed as Marvil worked for the guild. A certain trait that the guild soon learned was that Marvil was rogue in spirit and wasn’t a good choice for leadership roles. This kept his prospects low and caused Marvil to roam more often than most members. Often working local taverns and being more of an informant for the thieves guild. One day, Marvil was in a village near his hometown and he heard a rumour of a murder in his hometown. Through bribes and questioning, Marvil learned that his parents had murdered Natali.
 
He trashed his family name and set out to find his place in the world.
