Driven from his ancestral home by dreams of the end times, Njal heads South to unlock the secrets of his blood and find a way to save Nespiere.
Njal Stormclaw was born to one of the many wandering tribes of the Aegir in the harsh winters of the north. Brought into clan battles on his mother's back with still a baby, he would be born into the storm and, as was fated, die in it.
When he was old enough to walk and hold an axe he was thrust into battle with the other wandering tribes. After wandering into the thick of the fighting, scared and alone, he was attacked by another small boy three years his senior. Njal fought, but was quickly put down. He was fated, or so it seemed, to die here on this frozen battlefield. As he lied on his back waiting for the final blow to come, he saw a white raven flighing above. Njal's eyes began to glow, and a bolt of lightning from the heavens turned his foe to ash and forced the others around him to flee, friend and foe alike.
The only person who remained was the Gothi. He saw that the boy had potential. Njal was taken to the mountain keep of Skeinbrotjor. There the Gothi contained the power in the child's blood and taught him to listen for the voices of the gods within the winds of the mountain. The gothi titled him Kinraffin, or Ravenkin in common, as the Skjorwyrd, white ravens, seemed particularly interested him as he trained and grew. As he grew he would be given a name fit for others in the world to know him by, Stormclaw.
One night while sleeping in his room high in the mountain fortress, Njal began to dream of the Bjorda opening and the age of man coming to an end. There is conflict within the Aegir on the nature of the threat, and Njal knows that the answers to the coming war with the Bjordir lie in the south.
Only the gods know his wyrd.
