No one's entirely sure where The Professor fits into the Adventurer's Guild hierarchy or social structure - he just showed up at camp one day and started building a tower.
 
Since construction finished, pops, bands, and explosions can be heard coming from his tower at all times of day, night, afternoon, and extra-dimensional time dilations.
