Niobe was born and raised in Akros. Trained in the art of pankration she hoped to one day compete in the Iraon games. On the day of the games Niobe kissed the forehead of her newborn son and set out to compete. Tragedy struck as a vengeful god, embarrassed of a play poking fun at them, animated a mechanical chimera and it attacked the city. Hoping to help the guards she rushed in trying to evacuate people before she was cut down by the mechanical contraption the fire from it's breath burning her to ash. She awakens on the banks of the underworld coin in hand looking toward Atheros and the Tartaryx river.
