Personal history
"Born July 22, 1969 in Ségou, Mali, Ultima Leviathus, Chief Executive Officer of the Leviathan Military Corporation, is the mind behind agelessness becoming mainstream, most diseases being eradicated, and numerous other advancements that truly brought us into the 23rd Century. In this article, you will learn the history of our dischevled eccentric leader. Some sections may be quotes from our exclusive interview, other sections may be public information compiled for your reading pleasure.
Let’s begin with the origins, Ultima is from Ségou Mali, Very few public records have stood the test of time, so we don’t know very much about his childhood, however, we do know that at the age of 19, he was proving to be, “an absolute shit stain of a person”, in his own words. He was heavily involved in the local drug trade business, frequently dipping into his cocaine stash. This would prove to be a lifelong addiction, however, it had it’s positives. The extensive drug use seems to have effected his mental capabilities in, let’s say, a unique way.
The rampant drug use kept his mind operating at a pace a normal person couldn’t sustain for very long before falling to psychosis. To him though, this accellerated state of mind felt natural, stating that it felt like the world was moving agonizingly slowly when he was sober. Now we have to admit, if it were anyone else, this would seem like the unhinged ramblings of a drug fiend. But knowing what he’s done, perhaps he’s onto something. It’s possible that his biology was just different from the start.
In 1989 at age 20, he witnessed a horrible house fire, and after seeing what happened to the victims, he decided to start work on an experimental procedure to help burn victims that could prove superior to standard skin grafts. This project was funded almost entirely with drug money he laundered and kept in his public bank account to rack up interest. Only a year later though, he experienced a life threatening event which local doctors had no way of dealing with.
While working on an experimental polymer to replace traditional skin grafts, he slipped and fell into a vat of the mixture while it was being liquefied. The polymer was designed to bond to muscle tissue and simulate skin. Being one of the first prototypes though, it was not successful and ended up dissolving his skin, blinding him, and inflicting a permanent loss of smell and a peculiar disorder which made most foods completely intolerable to him. He had barely managed to pull himself out of the vat before yelling for his assistant, in a manic state and in a life or death situation, he made the decision to tell her to drag him over to the second batch and toss him into it. “She lugged my ass over to it, pissed off the whole time, saying she needed to get me to a hospital. But they weren’t going to be able to do anything for me. I’d have just been suffering with no skin and boil covered muscles bleeding out while they give me blood transfusions. That second vat was my chance to get at least one more test in before I died.”
Now as fate would have it, that second vat proved to have some limited success. It blanketed his disfigured body, solidifying on his muscles as it was supposed to. However this variant was incapable of taking any coloration or texturing. This left him a blind man with bleach-white skin and no hair. It came with the side effect of losing almost all sense of touch, seeing as all the nerve endings that would have been in his skin both no longer had a place to be, and were burned off. Soon after receiving his new skin, his eyesight began to return to a very small degree. Knowing that his eyes would never be the same after an accident like that, he decided to pause the skin grafting technology and begin work on a very early version of regenerative cell therapy to restore his vision.
In the coming years, he would complete both his skin grafting technology, and his regenerative cell therapy, gaining a reputation as something of a medical prodigy by his peers in the local medical field. His profession was strictly blazing a trail of medical technology for the majority of this time, but in 1993 this changed. In 1993, a house fire just like the one he’d seen 5 years prior, took the life of his father, brother, and severely injured his mother. This fire was no accident, and he discovered this quickly. “I was going to bed, and as I was passing out I heard the click of a zippo opening, presumably hitting the ground, then something like a strong gust of wind, which I later discovered was gasoline that had been poured over everything in the house. I was too tired to process any of it, but I woke up to burning eyes and lungs, opened the door to my room, which sort of melted part of my hand, then started looking around to see if everyone was alright. My mother was asleep in the living room when the fire had spread to their bedroom, so she got the least of it, but my brother and father were too far gone. There was nothing I could do but listen to the screaming, even my skin graft shit wouldn’t have fixed that, it’d burned them too deep. I started walking to the door to at least save myself, ended up dragging my mom out since her burns weren’t nearly as bad. It’s been a long time, but I think I carried her about a mile down the road to the warehouse I was using for my tests. Ended up being able to keep her alive, but she ended up being just as depressed about the whole ordeal as I was.”
Quite a disturbing incident, from our understanding, this was a turning point for Ultima. As he would dwell on these thoughts, he started noticing a faint purple glow coming from his eyes, and the glow would become brighter as his emotions became stronger. For years he had just assumed that this was some quirk of his regenerative cell therapy process. But as we know today, it was the first sign of psionic activity, and quite possibly the only case of this in the galaxy.
We’re going to skip forward to the year 1999 now. At the age of 30, he immigrated to the United States of America. And very quickly, he grew a powerful sense of patriotism for the new country. “It was so nice there, the streets were cleaner, the people were cleaner, there was always food, we had clean water everywhere. I mean it was a great place, the old world states…” His first real goal when arriving was to attend college and pick up as much information as possible. He joined more classes than anyone should be able to keep track of, everything from the many fields of engineering to the many fields of medicine, history, mathematics, physics, and geography. Over the span of the next decade, he would spend all of his time, and half of his drug fund on school. As soon as he decided that he’d learned enough for the moment, he started his own company. That being the Leviathan Corporation. Here he would research, develop, market, mass produce, and sell a multitude of technologies. He used his ever growing wealth to fund even more development, often learning from the greatest minds the world had to offer when he wasn’t in his shop working on something.
As the years progressed, he advanced further and further, reaching a point where there was no competition on any front. He had the strongest private military on the planet, the most advanced medical care, and an understanding of robotics and genetics that were and still are unparalleled by any other individual. He would eventually be the first to colonize Mars, he’d make multiple moon landings to harvest it’s resources as a private company, established a dyson swarm around the sun to solve the Earth’s energy problems, and finally left on a ship with a small crew and an experimental matter exchange machine. This marks the end of the Leviathan Corporation, and the beginning of the LMC as we know it today.
Between the years 2093 and 2127, construction had been in progress on an Earth sized space station just past the heliosphere. Once completed, it was named Leviathus. It would be expanded upon heavily via automated construction robots later, but for now it was his new home and laboratory. “The station was probably my best decision in life. The isolation gave me time to build what I wanted without public scrutiny getting in the way of it.” Now we have to be honest, the story of his life heavily conflicts here, as if it’s being told by two separate people. So we’re going to continue to the next point of interest.
In 2205AD, Ultima made a trip to a far and foreign world, coming back with an identical twin, which seems to have died at some point, being replaced by a sickly looking woman which he seems to care for, at times perhaps more than his projects and research. It is unknown exactly what their relationship is, we’re not sure if this woman is an adopted child or a significant other, but it doesn’t really matter, regardless of her connection to him, she’s changed him for the better in the eyes of most. We’re happy to see him in this new mellow state. He seems to be genuinely enjoying life nowadays."— LMEC News Broadcast Circa 2206
