History:
Amphrite is one with the sea. Her mother gave birth to her in the hold of a merchant's vessel that sailed along side the family's fleet of fishing boats. A mighty typhoon struck the convoy of ships during her mothers labor, which sent the midwives into panic due to the rough seas. Amphrite's birth coincided with the flotilla entering the eye of the storm, and the resulting calm was heralded as a miracle.
Being born into a wealthy family that operated one of the larger fishing groups that sailed out of Gafeld's great harbor, Amphrite spent much of her early years out to sea. The constant hours of travel and sailing would be boring for most young children, but an inquisitive mind and sharp eye for detail led to Amphrite taking up painting as her favorite hobby.
In her early teen years, tragedy struck the family. The family was requested to transport a "special" item that had been uncovered during an expedition into The Hollow Lands. No additional information was given as to what the item was, but it was stressed that the family would need to send their best guards to escort the item back to the capital. Sensing both the importance and danger surrounding this request, Amphrite's parents refused to bring her with them and left her in the care of their head retainer. Weeks turned into months, which soon became a year. All contact with the escort group was lost, and the worst fears became a reality. The merchant group lost much of its manpower along side Amphrite's parents, which left those who did not join the expedition near destitute.
The loss of her parents changed how Amphrite viewed the world around her. The little girl who would scamper up the rigging of a ship to get a better view of the horizon with a grin ear to ear was gone. She was replaced by a much colder, suspicious and detached individual, who now found solace on the shore instead of the sea. Everyday, Amphrite would spend time staring at the mouth of the harbor, hoping that today would be the day she would see the patched gray sails of her parents vessel crest the horizon, finally home after years of being missing.
Seasons pass, and Amphrite's steady search into what happened to her parents continued. The near constant digging though information and back channel port gossip lead to two recurring things: the Circle of the Raven and a "withering stone". Her inquiries would soon be rewarded as the Circle of the Raven came to her. It was the Circle that had originally commissioned her parents to transport the item, and that item was a "withering stone". Since it wasn't recovered, the Circle believes that the stone is somehow involved with the fall of the Rabewald Estate and the creation of The Hollow Lands. Amphrite was invited to join the Circle, which she happily accepted on the premise that she would be spending her efforts to uncover the fate of her parents and the secrets of the item they were transporting.
With the Circle of the Raven backing her from the shadows, Amphrite was able to revive her families business, but it had a new purpose. No longer would they be a group of fishing and trade vessels, The Hollow Wind Expedition Company was created to explore the eastern reaches of the domain and find ways to deal with the threat of the Hollow Ones. Through her company and growing aptitude for the Druidic arts, she caught the eye of a lesser royal family of Sawic and was adopted as their ersatz daughter. As part of the adoption ceremony, Amphrite was given a true Bloodline of Tyrna, proof that she was now a royal and fit for regency.
With powerful blood flowing through her veins, it was only a matter of time for Amphrite to consolidate her power and make her mark on the domain. Her claim to the crown was just, and the courtiers saw no better option with the looming crisis of the expanding Hollow Lands. Crowned the Princess of Sawic, Amphrite became the youngest regent in the domain's history.
