Can I kill him just a little?— C.A.S.H.
For their part in the Scar uprising, Django and C.A.S.H. have bounties on their heads from both sides of the law. Now on the lam in the Outer Rim, they fly with whichever boat has work—smuggler, bounty hunter, tech-spec—they make their way whichever way they can, always one step ahead of the law and one eye behind the gun.
Early Life
Born in the Scar, a 1,000 mile chasm leading down to the industrial layers of sub-surface Coruscant, Django was raised by his Mother, Maana Dhar. An assembly line worker for the droid conglomerate Industrial Automaton, she manufactured Lerium set arrays for the new Intellex VI navigation computers. On friendly terms with her colleague Rask Bander, one of the engineers in the Janitorial Services Department, she would often bring home discarded maintenance droid parts for her son to tinker with. Django showed an aptitude at an early age with robotic engineering. With these components, as well as some acquired from local chop shops, he built his first droid at the age of 15 to help with chores around their quarters. C.A.S.H., as he now goes by, is an ever-evolving work in progress, but Django never lets him forget his beginnings with a plunger in place of his cherished Callan twin-barrel repeating blaster...with optional flamethrower attachment.
They lived better than most in the Scar. Lerium was a new technology and skilled workers were in high demand. It was created solely for use in shipborne systems capable of high-string computations. This would allow for faster, safer, and most importantly, cheaper hyperspace travel. It was also expensive, and in order for the company to absorb the rising material costs, cuts were made in the production of the quantum dampeners. In place of the usual vibranium panels, smaller carbonite plates were used. As such, the Lerium remained in a semi-excited state and still slightly unstable...
Empire Day Massacre
Eventually, when word got out as to the cause of the explosion, riots erupted in the Scar. Militant protesters attacked the Industrial Automaton factories while tech slicers launched coordinated slice attacks on their systems cortex. Corporate security forces, backed with Imperial support attempted to subdue them with little success. The riots had been going on for a month already as preparations began for Empire Day, a celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Emperor's reign. Talks had been negotiated between the leaders of the rebellion and the Industrial Automaton corporate board. The company made it know in the communities that they wanted to take responsibility for the tragedy and make amends to those who lost loved ones.
District 1313
Their true goal however, was an end to the uprising by any means necessary, the events had started to draw attention from upper levels of government including the office of the Planetary Govenor.
As the talks commenced, a battalion of the 112th Repulsorlift Armor Regiment, known as Hells Hammers, was moved into a neighboring sector. All holocron relay stations were shut down so communication in and out was cut-off. Two companies of 1-M Repulsortanks, along with 6 companies of Advanced Armored Guard, were moved into the sector where the leaders of the uprising were headquartered.
With an army large enough for a small planetary surface incursion, they open fired on the residents of District 1313. With no resistance to speak of against the heavily armored personnel, the assault was swift and efficient. By the end District 1313 was annihilated, the residential sectors were laid to waste and 12,748 civilians were killed.
The negotiations had been scheduled to take place at the Imperial Magistrate tower in the mid-layer District 736. The community leaders of District 1313, Imperial negotiators, and representatives from Industrial Automaton were in attendance.
As their loved ones had already discovered, an agreement was never the intent of this meeting. Once talks were well on their way, Dioxis gas was pumped into the room. The gas entered Django's deep lungs like a blaster bolt. As members of the accord choked to death on their own vomit, he stumbled toward the exit only to find it sealed. His concoiusness began to slip. Grabbing at the wall to avoid falling, his hand clutched the metal slats of a ventilation grate. With vision receding, he tore the grate free with what little strength he had left and plunged into darkness.
The Way of the Gun
Eventually he secured an apprenticeship with an independent droid technician in the lower levels, Under the tutelage of Rask Bander, he learned the software side of droid engineering, along with the fundamentals of A.I.
