Achaekek (pronounced uh-CHAY-kek)
Achaekek (pronounced uh-CHAY-kek) is the god of assassins, and the patron god of the Red Mantis assassins who are based in The Ember Wastelands, the vast desert in Valland located east of the Wyrmsmoke Mountains. Achaekek takes the form of a giant red mantis and kills with professional detachment. He recruits his assassins by breaking their minds and bending their wills to his, making them his faitfhul acolytes.
Valrick Dapplecloak encountered Achaekek when his village, Grapton, was destroyed by his own alchemical inventions. Struggling with the resultant guilt and grief after Grapton's destruction, Valrick began to believe his puppet, Mr. Biggles, was alive and speaking to him. When Valrick tired to rid himself of Mr. Biggles by "gifting" the puppet to the contract demon, Evangeline, Valrick discovers that it has been Achaekek speaking to him the entire time.
After Achaekek causes Valrick to experience a harrowing nightmare and significant damage to his hands, Valrick acquieses and becomes an acolyte of Achaekek.
