Morbid and altogether strange, Grtizolga was the black sheep of her magical family since the day they realized she had no talent for the arcane. Growing up isolated, misunderstood, and ostracized not only for her lack of magical talent but also her far-too-human appearance, she took to spending most of her time in the sprawling abandoned and overgrown graveyard behind the family estate.
Sneaking out every night to wander, and sometimes sleep, among the moldering tombstones, she began to form an affinity with death and the dying. When she realized her true potential, she packed a bag and left home without a word. She searched for away to better understand and unleash her abilities and eventually found a lone shadar-kai thief willing to share his knowledge. She learned quickly but soon realized her years of isolation had given her a longing for companionship her new mentor could not provide.
Rhangyl suggested perhaps becoming an Adventurer would suit her - she could put her talents to use for coin while forming some connections with people who might understand her better than her family ever had. She accepted the suggestion and headed for Shimmermeadow, well known around Fournemouth as the best destination for a would-be adventurer. But before she left, she sent a letter to the one family-member with whom she had a good relationship, the other black sheep of the family; her cousin Cas. Inviting him to join her for "fame and fortune our blood cannot ignore," she headed for the city of adventurers to begin recruiting and making friends.
