An excerpt from the teachings of Deacon Jameson on the history of Cambria:
His Holiness, The True and Final Father Gideon is the leader of the Church of the Phoenix and, by extension, the floating City of Cambria. He was born in a small mining colony on the River Y'safa. He was sixteen when his power was first manifest. While digging in the mines, a collapse took the life of ten men. Gideon dug them out of the rubble with a supernatural strength, carrying them out, two or three at a time. He brought them to the surface, and when their families arrived, their faces covered with tears, Gideon performed his first miracle, bringing these men back from beyond the lights of Nyx.
He was ushered then to the City of Semeron, but the Circle of Confirmation there could see the power of the Father and felt threatened by him. Fearing that he would punish them for their lack of piety, they denied him the title of the Father Incarnate and banished him from their city. He returned to that mining town where he was born and began to preach. Many gathered to here the enlightened words of the true Father, first hundreds, then thousands, then tens of thousands. Many sold all of their belongings to make the trek to see the Prophet before them. They gathered there and began to set up roots, and before long, the City of Cambria had come into exsitence.
The Father spoke of the return of the Final Four, the Holy Descendants reincarnated, who would usher the world into a state of devotion, and prepare the way for the return of the Great Phoenix. The Great Phoenix, who had created our world many thousands of years ago, would return to see his children and the works that they had made. If their works were good, then it would remain, providing an eternal golden age that would not end. If it were to find the world wanting, then it would destroy the world as we know it, and begin again. The Council in Semeron believed these truths to be blasphemy and sought to end the Father's life. They called upon the powers of the Strangers to aid them in their destruction of the Father, but he was prepared. The Father called all of his servants to Cambria. Men, women, and children flocked to his side. They came from every walk of life, from every race, and every creed, until their city was the largest in excistence. Then the father told them to draw boundries, which they did.
As the Semeronian forces marched towards the City, a great thundering came, followed by a cracking of the earth and a gust on the wind. Our City, the holy City, rose from where it lay, and the Father struck out at his enemies, scorching them to ashes. Semeron was destroyed as well, heavenly fire reigning down on them, laying waste to the land and signalling to all other opposition that the Father had come and he would not be silenced. So began the War of Purity, and now the Father seeks to unify all people under him.
We see today but a glimpse of the golden age that is to come. The magic and technology of our great city is beyond the comprehension of any of our anscetors. So, we must fight, and even die, for our most Holy Father, for if we do not, we all shall fall when the Phoenix comes. But fear not, for the war is being won with the power of the Father, Mother, and Son. Soon shall the Daughter join there ranks, and the golden age shall commence. All glory to Cambria! All glory to the Father!
