Haiokabutta Karu is a warrior priest from a rare sect of the The Ashen Knights of Arawn. This sect lives outside of normal communities and acts as 'balancers of the grey scales'.
In other words they are the ones called in to enforce Arawn's will to destroy liches, the undead and, sometimes, to prevent the early end of innocent lives.
 
They are met by most with a mix of fear and respect but are rarely welcomed. This is not helped by the fact that they carry menacing scythes, are antisocial and get their name from their ritual practice of covering themselves in ash. In all it gives them an otherworldly and unnerving appearance.
