Street magician with real magic who branched out into detective work and then slipped into Shadowrunning. His magic is based in Obeah and Tarot.

Rockford was born in the Caribbean League part of South Florida. His mother, Alana Rockford, was an Obeah Woman from Jamaica who smuggled
him over SINless. She married a Real Estate developer Jose Santos. He grew up well off, but his Step Father never cared enough to adopt him or make him an official citizen. His life was spent helping his mother with her ceremonies. He had little formal education because he wasn't in the system so he learned street hustling and street magic in order to keep himself out of gang involvement. When he awakened at 13 his role with his mother's practice increased, but his Step Father became concerned and he made plans to remove this potential embarrassment.
 
While his mother was visiting relatives in Jamaica when he was 16 Santos framed Ajani for the murder of a prominent Real Estate rival. With the authorities closing in, Santos offered to solve the problem for Ajani by helping him flee the country for the opposite side of the country. Jose cautioned him that contacting the family would draw the heat back to him so he had to go to ground in his new city. The amount of start up cash he provided was somewhat substantial from either lingering guilt or some other motivation, but Ajani had enough to get himself established in Seattle. To this day he doesn't know Santos set him up.

He hit the streets busking with street magic and learning the pulse of his new city. Eventually his contact with spirits allowed him to begin helping solve minor crimes in his neighborhood. He'd never been good at the healing side of Obeah, but the retribution and resistance side vibed with him.
 
Known as Rockford now he solves petty crimes and mysteries as well as staking out cheating spouses. It's a living, but not a great one. So recently he's been dipping his toe in the Shadowrunning pool
