Elis has always had an interest in archaeology which he learned from his parents. Once he was old enough at the age of 14, as he was the oldest of 5 siblings, he was the first one allowed to go on an expedition into ancient tombs with his parents.
 
 
This turned out to be an unfortunate day for his parents and himself. Deep in the tombs they found the guardian's of The Great Old One. However, The Great Old One did not reside in this place, but they did not know that, and they also had no knowledge of who this was before this incident. The family decided to further investigate the secrets of this tomb which would result in them eventually trying to establish a connection to the great old one, however, Elis's parents did not make it. In the middle of a ritual, the guardians awoken and decided that they were not suitable to hold these secrets, and Elis's parents were banished from the realm. He knows naught where they live or if they have perished.
 
 
Since then Elis has grown cold and distant from others, worried that if they found out the secrets he knew of, they too would perish. He now works as an archaeologist as well, spending days in isolation exploring ancient ruins, occasionally when he is exploring or is traveling to a new ruin he will stop by libraries and taverns or inns to sleep on the way there (yes he sleeps in the ruins when he is exploring them).
